"Hey, let me go.... Don't drag me....
"Be a good girl or am throwing you over my shoulders instead"
"Master Grey?!" Jayden was left there standing , confused of course.
I remained silent as Grey dragged me to his room. I didn't want to be thrown obmver his shoulders. Spanking was embarrassing.
We finally entered his room and he made me sit on the bed trapping me between his arms.
"Spit it kiddo"
"Am not a kid" I pouted glaring fiercely.
"Don't act cute with me, I can't waver right now. I need answers from this tiny little mouth you got"
I stared at him wondering if he would get mad at me for cultivating the spells and skills.
"Don't bite your lips either, it is distracting!" He warned
I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"It disappeared"
"When? Where? How?"
"I was trying to find the source and basis of my power then it turned into dark mist gathered around my feet and disappeared just like that"
"What did you feel afterwards?"
I thought for a moment "like everything was clearer, like I had become wiser and more confident"
"No wonder I felt like you were a little different from the other days"
"You're not mad?"
"I had a feeling something of sort would happen someday."
"How? Why?"
"Intuition... You could use the spells that no one could fathom. I thought the book must have been composed just for you"
"What a wierd way of thinking, Flora didn't know me then?"
"Well maybe but there must've been a reason to why you were the one who found it and not anyone else, right?"
"I guess" I agreed at last.
"Get rid of the shirt"
"What?!"
"Don't get any ideas, I am not doing anything silly"
"Oh" I laughed awkwardly.
I took off the shirt and remained in a pair of sports bra. Grey leaned over craning his head to my back.
"It's clear now... A twig!"
"A twig?!"
"Whatever was on your back was an illusion, now the real thing is out!"
"So it's a twig?"
"Yeah, it may be confused with a tattoo"
"Gosh this is driving me nuts!"
"As it should be" he stood up relaxing his shoulders "you might be way too powerful than we do imagine you to be. Seems like your dad knew about your power all along he might be the one who locked it up"
"Why would he even do that?"
"The David I know, is selfish and greedy I wouldn't doubt my assumptions" he explained simply "go check it out in the bathrooms"
He pointed at the bathroom door nudging me to go ahead.
I headed to the bathrooms lazily and inspected my back, gosh the twig looked like a branch of some tree I had seen drawn in a novel I had read back in school. Was this the witch's hand mark? Unbelievable!
I put the shirt back on, there was nothing I could do about it anyway, seems like since I got into the Vines coven I was not in control of anything at all. My life felt like a movie that had already been planned and set. No matter how the much the characters got tossed around there was nothing I could do about it.
I walked back to the room and found Adelyn sitting there with Grey. Her eyes were filled with fear as soon as she saw me then she tried to hide her fear with a forced smile.
Gosh! She's such an open book, easy to read
I waved at her,she smiled wearily in return.
Scared little puppy!
I sat opposite them silently.
"Anything a miss?"
"Must there be something wrong for me to be here?"
"Definitely, it is the style I have noticed a good number of you use, when there is something you can't solve or you got an issue to raise it is when you remember Grey exists!"
"You can stop it Becky" Grey urged me quietly
"I don't feel like it, I need to understand this sister you got. Am actually wondering, I've been wondering for a while now. Why doesn't she behave like a sister at all?"
"If you were an example of a good sister I would be too"
"I wish I had one to be good to. I was born alone and I don't have anyone to sister" I shot back at her
"What's your point?"
"It is actually a question, why didn't you protect Grey when Steel was after him? You hit him really bad and you didn't bother to even come check on him. You trusted me with him yet you claim am a vampire hunter. Which side do you stand?"
"I didn't trust you with my brother, I just know one thing. You love him and you wouldn't hurt him" she answered nonchalantly
"You are too confident in yourself, it is not good"
"Am I wrong?"
Grey was staring at me the whole time, his hand resting under his chin. His green eyes pierced through my soul from underneath his thick smooth hair. I sighed, I wasn't going to answer.
"You haven't answered my question, whose side are you in?"
"I didn't know we were taking sides" she challenged
"Now that you know tell me whose side are you in?"
"Whatever side am taking is none of your concern" she flared
I grinned "am flattered by your ridiculous answers. But anyway whatever side you take make sure it doesn't collide with mine coz if it does" I paused and hardened my gaze at her "you'll crawl and beg for mercy"
I smiled slowly and stood up "I have something to do go ahead and do whatever you had to do with your brother. Just keep him alive. He rather dies in my hands"
I walked out of the room and shut the door. I sighed heavily and headed to Dom's room.
I knocked and pushed the door open. Dom and Elia were sitting together on the sofa cuddling and watching TV.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt your good time" I apologized
"Oh, Becky no problem cone and sit." I sat opposite them
"How have you been?" Dom asked
"Fine, just a little busy here and there" I responded making myself comfortable.
"What have you been up to?"
"Trying to find out about myself. I have cultivated the SPELL BOOK. Now am equipped though I can't tell what amount of power I have" I explained eyeing the two who seemed cozy with each other.
"Why did you do that?"
"It wasn't the plan. I wanted to find out the basis of my power. Instead I cultivated the skills"
"Did you find out anything?" Dom inquired
"Nothing"
"So it might mean you're from the witch clan or one of your parents was connected to the witches"
"I really can't who, either dad or mom. Could it be dad?"
"He can't be a witch honestly. He's a vampire hunter witches are protectors of the vampires" Dom stated
"So mom? She was feeble. She barely raised her eyes whenever dad was around. I can't tell really and I doubt it. Plus, she died in the car!"
Elia gave me sad eyes "sorry"
"No, wounds are healed don't don't worry" I smiled warmly at her.
"What about your dad?" Elia asked again
"I don't know, I passed out for some minutes in the car. Then he wasn't there the next moment I woke up. It was just mom. I tried to save her bit I couldn't she was dead!"
"This is more than complicated. We need some really deep interpretation of this so we can tell what happened." Dom said
"Then we have to find your dad and know" Elia simplified
"No need. Am not ready to meet that man. I don't want to meet him at all. It's clear he wants me dead! And that means finding him is walking to the hunters trap blindly. I will not do that. Let me be patient, with time I will know" I finalized the discussion.
"So when are we having a son?"
Dom's eyes flew wide open and Elia looked a bit embarrassed.
"You're the silver one. I knew ... I can tell"
"When did you know I am pregnant?"
Elia asked slowly.
"When you came to the room. I heard two heartbeats from you. So... I knew" I explained simply
"Your senses are heightened to the extreme , even the elders can't recognise it yet!" Elia sounded pouty
I grinned leaning back on the sofa "maybe this abilities are useful after all"
"They must be useful and I can tell, it was waiting for you all along. The book has been around for decades. No one has been able to cultivate it, but it was so easy for you even without the art of cultivation knowledge. They all were yours. I could advise you to use them wisely, be careful for you don't know them all plus your powers are not fully developed. Take care, please"
Elia urged me with that motherly aura she always carries with her.
"I will, I will go rest my head. I feel tired"
"Go ahead sassy girl" Dom poked
"Hey, I'll slap your head Mr." I warned "don't forget who the boss is"
"My bad" he said dramatically zipping his lips.
"But am planning to give you a beating though, you harrased me back at your camp"
"I thought you forgot" he grinned cockily.
"I never forget. Am planning it out, let's see who is stronger than the other!"
"You're challenging your ancestor!"
"My handsome ancestor, I would have requested, but it turns out am the boss here!"
"Don't forget am around, don't call my mate handsome so easily" Elia warned.
I raised my hands in surrender "sorry madam lioness. I wouldn't dare take what is yours. He's all yours to keep and have"
Elia blushed unconsciously and for a moment I was jealous. She was happy, she had a mate who loved her, she was expecting a kid and was happy. I wished for the same but as things seemed I had a long rough road ahead before I could sit comfortably and cuddle with the love of my life as well. I wasn't in a hurry either way, I had some big hope deep down inside that my life will be normal someday.
I left their room and went back to my room and lay down to sleep. I do though nightmares were history, but did I really have an history?
Barely I had none it all looked like I was living the moments both good and bad. Sometimes I wished someone could have been kind enough to give me a preview,a trailer or a simple blurb of my life story. But no one could or knew or if there was one he/she was not around to tell me what was coming next.
Events took me by surprise, everything just occurs and shakes me off my feet as I struggle to keep the rug under my feet all the time. I had a feeling that things were about to turn even worse. Someone or something was busy making a fire to roast me alive. I had a bad feeling down in my gut it made me feel sick all the same.
What was coming? Would it happen to me? Grey? Or Ethan?
Or was it something to do with Hazel, was she even alive till now?
I had a lot of questions, my curiosity was making me restlessly.
Was I worrying too much?
"Hello"
Someone burged into the room. I groaned lazily sitting up
"What is it?"
"You're not happy to se me?"
Sandy asked childishly
"Am just exhausted, I wanted to take a nap. What's up?"
"I came to say goodbye, am flying to France!"
I became alert that instant "France?
What for?"
"Well I have not fully developed my powers yet! So I need to go see the elders on that side"
"Oh, when will you be back?"
"I have no idea, maybe the twelfth month or the new year"
"I'll miss you kid" I said walking over to hold her small wrists
"Me too, and please say hello to Regina for me if she gets back before I do"
I smiled at her and nodded.
"Have you packed?"
"I did yesterday, I could have told you about it but you know, this coven has a lot going on."
I nodded "we'll all see you off" I put on my slippers and followed her outside.
The gang was all gathered in the tech room I have never knew it existed in the coven. It looked really advanced, if they weren't vampires I would have assumed it was a NASA crew camping away from humans to do scientific researches.
There were a bunch of computer and advanced security system in the base. Grey was the one leading us as we walked through the corridor lit dim blue and red. I could have thought we were a bunch of investors walking through the company base where secret codes and such kind of stuff were kept.
Silly me, I had a lot of fantasies.
Grey opened a thick door that I would have assumed to be a safe, Sandy stood before the massive door looking at us. I peaked inside, the room was white and spotless. The walls were lined with computer that were as white as the walls and the floor.
They got holograms too!
"Guys I'll go now, bye"
We all waved at her as she entered the blinding white room.
I was amazed as she walked through the holograms into a certain cubicle made of glass. The glass closed then it was engulfed by a dark coating that melted around it like coal. The room darkened a bit then the computer systems announced a take off...
Dycx-116 is ready to take off....
Flight success, system closing...
Then the room was bright again. I was amazed, I was out of words.
"So you got such a powerful tech system? This place looks too old to be having such"
"Maybe you have been interested in the history more than the present and the future" he said cockily.
"Probably, so what was that?"
"A drone, she'll be in France sooner than you expect. It is also UV resistant. The safest to use"
"Wow, how did you make that? It is expensive right?"
"It is expensive, there is no human who can afford that. Don't ask how we afford it, you have no ideas how many vamps we got out there working with humans in tech companies, finance organisations and the government" he smirked boyishly turning to leave.
"Don't they get suspected to be vampires?"
"We are different categories of us. Go dig that in history, but technology is quite advantageous. Some have developed methods to stay out in the sun but not for too long. Plus most if them are Mafia kings, they're safe"
"Ethan told me he can go out in the sun for some minutes"
"Yes he can" he nodded "that is one thing that he can do so well"
"What about you? Can you?"
He halt"Am a vampire my little snowflake"
"But with your other side, I think you can do it" I said a little bit too excited than I intended to be.
"I've never tried it"
"You should!"
I exclaimed out loud.
"I will think about it" then he walked ahead in quick strides.
Jerk!
I was recalling how he had called me his little snowflake and blushing when a vision swept me off my feet.
A drone crushing in a sonic speed from the air into the tall trees and finally hitting the forest floor hard leaving a deep pit ...
I inhaled sharply... Was something bad going to happen to Sandy?
