CHAPTER 55
SAHARA KIM
HONESTLY, I'M glad that my people found him. That they found Leighton. Few years ago we already had given up in finding him, not because we just concluded that he's dead but because it was difficult to do so.
The moment Ashley told us that he's alive, I immediately made up my mind to check on him there even though it's really hard to leave Santa Luna. Whenever you went outside your house, those Nanos immediately attack you. Yeah, Nanos---that's what they called them, might as well used that term.
Anyway, those Nanos seemed very hungry to kill those normal ones, including us. Their minds are being corrupted and controlled. I know for sure that one day will come that they could dominate the whole place, or worse, the whole world. And that is what we needed to stop.
However, I admit that my plan went vague and vague as time passes by.
I sometimes left Santa Luna to see Leighton. To see how he is; if he's still doing good. However, every time that I went to where he was---in the town of Saka, I just figured out that he could not still remember who he really is. He did not remember his past basing on how he acts. I kept on eyeing him until years have passed and still, no progress about his healing. I did not blame the Cortes couple for that because I understand them.
There were times that I wanted to go to him to tell him about his past but I couldn't. I can't force him to remember everything. Then, that arson came to my knowledge weeks after I last visited him. I saw him helping the investigation that moment. The thing that he always does ever since. And I took that opportunity to help him regain his memories back.
Yes, I was the one who intentionally throw that phone toy to the burnt field. I knew that he could feel a different feeling of that music. Partly, I succeeded because I saw him touching his head that signified some of his memories flashed back. However, it did not last long. After that happening, he acted like that's no big deal.
Eun-ji, Yuna, and other people in my house always asked me about Leighton's situation and I told them the real thing. They're a bit sad upon hearing that, and I already expected that. Sometimes they insisted to come with me but I declined.
Right now, I left early this morning because I needed to do something. I have a been feeling that something bad would happen to the Saka because of what I heard to the two men in the Cortes' house. They have bad intention.
"Ashley, where are you?" I asked through my phone.
"I'm at Santa Lorenza. Bad news, the viral nanotechs began spreading here. Why?" answered Ashley in the line. He's panting slightly.
While hiding at one of the posts, I looked down in worries. "Call our other people. Help the civilians there," I said to him.
I initially wanted him to come with me at Saka because I might need him there. Yet, seems like he's much needed in Santa Lorenza.
Santa Lorenza is a place just next to Santa Luna. If the viral nanotechs began spreading there, it means that the security boundaries have weakened, or, the organization started planting again.
Until now, our progress in finding their lair is still ongoing. No idea where it is.
"Copy, Mistress. By the way, where are you? You're not going to Saka, aren't you?" he muttered. And I bet, he's running right now.
"Don't mind me. Just mind the people there," I responded while remaining vigilant. I continuously roaming my gaze around.
I heard him sigh. "If you're going there to see Leighton, I'll go with you. It's not safe to go there," he said worriedly.
