Song ~ In My Mind by Lyn Lapid

"I'm not one to complain, but can't Appa fly any higher?" I silently laugh to myself. Not one to complain. I whisper it back to myself.

Aang on the other hand didn't find Sokka's words amusing. "I have an idea! Why don't we all get on your back and you could fly us to the North Pole?!" Aang says irritated. We'd been on Appa for about three days and we'd all had enough of each other. At one point Katara almost pushed Sokka over Appa's saddle. I was surprisingly sleeping through most of it.

Sokka snickers. "I'd love to. Climb on everyone," he says propping his back up to us. "Sokka's ready for take off."

"Sit down." I huff dragging Sokka down causing him to land with a thud next to me. He rolls his eyes in return. I started to shiver it was getting colder by the second.

Katara sighs loudly obviously not in the mood for their antics. "Look, we're all just a little tired and cranky because we've been flying for three days straight." Momo suddenly runs into my lap. Poor guy has had to deal with all of us for too long. I gently pet him.

"And for what? We can't even find the Northern Water Tribe." Sokka argued."There's nothing up here."

We all stopped bickering and noticed the sound of slushing water. Suddenly the water below us rises and solidifies into ice spikes. Aang yanks Appa's reins in an attempt to avoid them. I can feel Katara squeezing my arm for dear life while I gripped myself to the saddle.

The saddle starts to rock and I shut my eyes. Maybe if I close them for long enough everything would be okay.

Then Appa came to a stop I slowly opened my eyes to be greeted with people in boats dressed in traditional water tribe clothes.

Katara's face lit up. "They're waterbenders! We found the Water Tribe!" I was losing hope I really thought we'd never find them. But now I can sleep in a bed. I feel like I've been valuing my sleep more lately. It makes me happy to say I don't fully remember the last time I couldn't sleep properly. I'm improving.

But just like that my day was ruined. The cold had gotten to me. I was surprised Aang wasn't dying like me. My whole body was shaking. Then I heard small chuckles from next to me. "Should've known you'd be freezing." Sokka giggled.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I snapped wrapping my arms around myself trying to warm up.

"You don't do cold." Oh, how could he tell? I roll my eyes I just need better clothes. Then I got a whiff of a certain scent and I could feel warmth spread across my body. Sokka's jacket it's just like the first time he gave it to me.

I didn't want to smile but I simply couldn't help it. "Thanks." I quickly pull the jacket over me.

"Some people just aren't made for the icy air like me." He says stretching his arms. I could help but stare at him. His shirt fit him so well like it was painted on him. I could see each muscle in his arms. I looked up to his face and he was already looking at me. I quickly turn my face. "Hmm were you just staring at my arms?" He asked smugly.

"What! No." I say as believable as possible but Sokka was not buying it. "I can literally see your goosebumps through your shirt." I say, giving one more try to change his mind.

"Suree." He smirked. I just turned around annoyed but I still let out a small grin. I don't know but after kissing Sokka something changed between us for me at least. I didn't like it. At all but now for some reason I wanted to talk to him more. Usually, I'd find him annoying when he came to talk to me while I was reading but lately it hasn't bothered me as much.
