Liliana's P.O.V:
I fixed the off-the-shoulders black long-sleeved shirt, even pulling down the black leather skirt a tiny bit more, then refixed the black fishnet stockings I had underneath the skirt. I walked to Kaiden's bed after making sure my makeup was decent, then sat down as I slid on the matching black boots that stopped right about my ankle bone. I had about an inch of heel on the boot to work with and it made me happy that I wasn't going to break my neck if I attempted to run in these.
I ran back to the mirror in the bathroom, refixing my hair that was up in a half-up half-down hairdo. I made sure the two necklaces that I assumed went with the outfit weren't hiding in the shirt, then there was knocking on the bedroom door.
Kaiden said through the door, "Lily, we have to go in a few minutes. I'll be waiting in the kitchen when you're ready."
I sighed again, looking at myself more intently, and said to my reflection, "Don't be a bitch, Lil."
With that being over, I left the bathroom to the bed once more. I missed having my phone, but it was probably for the best. I didn't want to have to see the hundreds of missed calls from my brothers and Illena, worrying for me and where the hell I was. I left the bedroom, walking to the kitchen, and Kaiden was drinking a glass of water—at least I hoped it was water. He had his hair pulled back, with a few strands of his bangs hanging out. He had on a suit jacket with matching black pants and the button up shirt underneath it. Kaiden was looking out the small kitchen window in front of the sink.
"I'm ready," my voice came out timid, which made me mentally slap myself in the bruise that I had covered up with some foundation and concealer.
Kaiden turned, then stared at me with wide eyes. His emotions ranged from shock to something else as I tried to avoid his gaze. Kaiden cleared his throat, then I heard the sink running. I looked up to see him trying to hide something, and he walked to me. He took my hand gently, pulling me along just as gently, and we walked through a door in the kitchen to the garage.
Kaiden closed the door behind me, walking passed me, and I saw a bluish black SUV next to a Harley Davidson motorcycle. In fact, there were two motorcycles and I wondered how many motorcycles he actually had. Kaiden unlocked the SUV with his keys then opened the front passenger door. He waited for me to get in as I took hesitant steps toward him. I got in the SUV, seeing him close the door behind me, and he took a few long strides to the driver side. Kaiden slipped in the car then looked at me. He leaned on the arm rest, reaching around me, and pulled my seatbelt over me.
"I can do it," I took the seatbelt from him, then finished buckling my seatbelt.
Kaiden started the SUV, backing out as the garage door opened, then closed it before he left his driveway. I looked at the time on the digital stereo and wondered how long I had been here in San Antonio for it to be close to dinner time. I looked out the window to see the sun slowly starting to set as we drove into the heart of San Antonio.
"It's pretty here," I murmured.
"It is now," I heard Kaiden say softly, and I turned to look at him.
He kept his eyes on the road, driving without a care in the world. Did he really find this place boring? Or was he just complimenting my outfit? I didn't know if I were to be amazed or flattered by his words.
"I grew up here and I've seen everything there is to be seen here." Kaiden answered my mental questions.
I looked away from him, staring back out the window, and saw him pulling into a fancy shopping plaza. Kaiden parked in between a white Tesla and a big four-door truck. In front of the SUV was three other luxury brand vehicles. Kaiden turned off the SUV, sighing heavily as we both unbuckled our seat belts. I watched him, feeling tension coming from him, then he looked at me seriously as he turned in his seat to give me undivided attention.
