Liliana's P.O.V:

Hearing the constant beeping of a heart monitor, my eyes slowly fluttered opened. A white hospital ceiling greeted me after ten seconds of constant blinking, then a face appeared in my vision. He was a beautiful sight, but I knew better than to believe the mere beauty of someone's face. It was always used as a mask to cover up the monster. The man looked away from me, demanding someone get a doctor, then he looked down at me. He tried to move my hair away from my face, but instinctively, I slid away from his hand to avoid his touch.

I grabbed what felt like an oxygen mask with my right hand, taking it off to the sound of the guy demanding for me to put the mask back on. I tossed the mask to the side, hearing more footsteps, and the doctor along with a few nurses. The doctor and nurses managed to help me sit up, even bringing the hospital bed to an upright position.

"Ms. Soto, do you know your name?" The doctor asked, to which I nodded.

He waited for me, and I opened my mouth before closing it. I finally weakly croaked out, "Liliana Soto."

"Do you know why you're in the hospital?" The doctor asked.

I tried to think of it, but my head started to hurt. I gripped onto my head with my right hand. The doctor tried to touch my exposed skin, forcing me to jump and instant regret hit me. I moved my right hand to hold my back, waving the doctor off with my left hand that dangled out of a sling. I felt a wave of concern and confusion, glancing at the guy who I saw first when I woke up, and I looked away from him. Why did he look so familiar?

"Ms. Soto, do you know where you are?" The doctor asked, hesitation wrapped each of his words tightly.

Again, when I tried really hard to remember, there was a sharp pain in my head. I shook my head after clutching onto my head harder, "No."

"You're in San Antonio, Texas. Do you know your two friends standing here?" The doctor was patient but still hesitant.

Friends? I looked at the woman who was giving me a severe look of concern as if we were on the friendship level I had with Aimee and Milena. I turned my head to look at the guy, and he did look familiar. Wasn't he...the head bouncer at Liam's club? Speaking of, where in the hell as Liam or Aimee and Milena for that fact?

Everyone in the room was waiting for me to say something, to say anything. The air was too tense for me, so I just attempted to readjust myself as I spoke softly, "That guy is a bouncer at my brother's best friend's club. I don't know the woman."

"What's my name?" The head bouncer asked, and I looked at him as I felt a wave of pure sorrow hit me out of nowhere.

I remembered Milena or Aimee telling me his name, and I asked, "It's Kaiden, right?"

His heart break shone through his eyes, and I wanted to know why my own heart broke at the mere sight of his eyes. Why was I willing to have a mental freak out just to pull him into a hug and tell him it would be alright? All I wanted to do in this moment was to pull him down enough to press my lips on his in comfort—why in the hell would I want that?

I swore to never fall for anyone again so why...
