Liliana's P.O.V:

It was about five days since that "dinner," and my guilt hadn't eased up since then. It probably didn't help that I hadn't slept much at all. My guilt of what I had done to Liam, forcing Kaiden to take me away from his family, it was eating me inside out. What really wasn't helping was the fact Kaiden had me sleeping in his bed whereas he was sleeping on that tiny loveseat in his office. He even cleared some space in the bathroom for some stuff for me since we didn't know how long this "interrogation" was going to go on for.

I hadn't seen much of Kaiden, but I didn't make much of an effort either. Usually, I would be laying down on the bed in his bedroom, curled under the blanket, or picking at a small bowl of popcorn while watching Hulu in the living room. I made sure if he were to be sleeping that I made a little of noise as I could. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that he was probably working so hard to keep the idea of me being interrogated out of his head. I felt his enormous amount of anxiety and tension every time he got a chance to make small talk to me through the soulmate bond.

Thankfully, today wasn't the usual day I'd slowly grown used to. Aimee had convinced me to go out with her to see Jason's place that she was living in now. Gia, Nathan's fiancée, tagged herself along. I wondered if Milena was going to be there since I hadn't seen her since that "dinner" but if she would've been there, then Aimee would've told me something. You could only imagine how apologetic Aimee had been after that night, and it wasn't helping my guilt either.

We were sitting outside in chairs around a small round glass patio with a glass piece in the center for a tabletop. The metal was black along with the chairs also being the same color, and I looked at the pool, which was in the process of being built. There were a few acres of land in this "backyard" and I spotted a part of it with an outdoor gym that had a few big tarps on it as a roof.

As I was trying to examine the backyard, I heard Aimee asking Gia, "So, what kind of magic do you practice?"

"White magic, but I do have a gift in potions. What about you?" Gia seemed excited at the idea of talking to another witch.

"A bit of both," Aimee sang, and I looked at the two who were watching me. Aimee asked me, "So, has Mel talked to you yet?"

"No," I grumbled.

"Liam?" Gia asked, and I shook my head.

Aimee looked puzzled as she said, "But I talked to Mel on the phone last night. She said she'd talk to you that night."

"I don't have my phone," I reminded her dully.

Aimee looked shocked by this statement, then Gia demanded, "Kaiden hasn't gotten you a phone? To even check in with him while he's busy at the council's offices? Or checking in with your folks?"

"What is the point in that? Both of my brothers would be trying to fly here to forcibly remove my ass and I'd be in a more brooding mood than usual," I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest.

"The only one dumb enough to do that would be Ian," Aimee chimed in, and I shot her a side eye.

"What are your brothers like? Nate told me he heard from Ian that you don't have any sisters," Gia seemed curious about my family.

"I have a stepsister." Which was technically true, but I just saw her as my father's step-kid mostly.

Aimee chimed in again, "Her older brothers are hot. It's too bad one of them is getting taken off the market."
