chapter 20

Elenor and Ruby let go and Elenor made her way towards Katie as Ruby made her way towards Clancy.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way Elenor. I really am. If things were different, we could be playing together like how we used to, but it is what it is." Katie's eyes glowed red and orange as fire came out of her mouth.

Elenor stretched her arms out and stopped the fire from hurting her and she was being pushed back but the force. She turned to her left and saw Ruby had controlled the soldiers to stand by her side and made them point their guns towards Clancy and they started firing at him but Clancy controlled the soldiers and instead they shot towards the ground.

Clancy then made the soldiers face Ruby and made them fire. Luckily, Ruby jumped infront and didn't get shot. Instead, the soldiers shot each other and they all fell to the ground.

Elenor stood up and walked towards Katie. but she suddenly stopped and knelt down infront of Katie. Katie's eyes were glowing and Elenor knew she was being controlled by Katie. Elenor saw that Ruby was also kneeling down infront of Clancy and they were both trying their best to stop Clancy and Katie from controlling them.

"it's ok Elenor, just let me in. You know I'm way stronger than you. you'll have to give in eventually. let's make it easy for you. I can remake you to become the better version of yourself and we can be like how we used to be. we could-" Elenor tuned out the rest of Katie's speech and entered Ruby's mind.

"what are we going to do?" Elenor asked.

"see those helicopters? we make them come down here and we run for it" Ruby told her.

"But i don't want to kill my sister." Elenor told her.

"I'm sorry Elenor. we have no choice. It's either that or we become their puppets and they take over the world." Ruby told her. She's right, if they don't do this, who knows what they're going to do. with a heavy heart, Elenor agreed and got out of Ruby's head.

"why are you tearing up?" Katie asked and that made Elenor realise she was tearing up.

"I'm really sorry. I never wanted it to be like this." Elenor told her and she looked up and saw that Ruby had already made the pilot bring the helicopter down. Elenor got up and ran towards Ruby and helped her up as both of them ran away from Clancy and Katie. Both Clancy and Katie both looked up and saw the plane coming down and they both tried to get away but it was too late, the plane had crash to the ground and Ruby and Elenor tripped and fell at the impact.

"birds down! birds down! unknown hostile" one of the soldiers shouted through the coms.

Elenor and Ruby looked back and saw that the helicopter had exploded and fire was coming towards them. they both accepted their fate and wait for the fire to swollow them whole.

"Elenor! Ruby!" Chubs shouted and grabbed both of them and helped them up and the three friends ran towards the forest. Chubs and Elenor got unlucky and the fire got to them, well Chubs had it worse as his whole back got hit by the fire. Chubs and Elenore groaned in pain and the 3 of them fell and they rolled down a small hill.

Elenor and Ruby got up and helped Chubs up, Elenor ignoring the pain she had gotten from the fire. they need to get away as far from the soldiers as possible. Elenor was worried about Liam and Zu, where were they? were they captured?

Elenor looked back and saw that the kids were being rounded up and she felt so bad for the kids that got captured again. They worked hard to get their freedom and now theyre being captured again. Elenor thought of Katie and her heart sank, she just got her older sister back and she lost her, and it was all because of her.

The 3 of them went deeper into the forest and when they knew they couldn't be found by the soldiers, they stopped and rested by a tree.

"are you ok?" Ruby asked in worry as she looked at Elenor's arm and stomach. That was where she had gotten hurt but Elenor nodded her head.

"where's Liam and Zu?" Elenor struggled to ask.

"I don't know" Chubs answered.

"guys we have to get out of here" Ruby told them.

"go, save yourself." Chubs told Ruby. Elenor could feel herself slipping away but she tried her best to hold on.

"we have to get both of you help." Ruby exclaimed.

"that's not happening. look at us." Chubs told her and he groaned.

"He's right. we are just going to slow you down. you have to save yourself before they get you." Elenor agreed with Chubs. Ruby looked at them with sadness before she had an idea. she took out something from her pocket and pressed down on the button.

"hey what are you doing? what is that?" Chubs asked.

"It's help" Ruby simply said. Chubs nodded before fainting and Ruby caught him.

"you guys are going to be okay." Ruby promised and Elenor smiled at her before she leaned back on the tree and was about to fall asleep when Liam came running towards them.

"oh my god you're okay" Liam ran towards Elenor and hugged her before kissing her forhead and Elenor smiled, knowing Liam was safe.

"holy shit. you're hurt." Liam said worriedly as he looked at the burnt marks on Elenor's body.

"it's okay, I'm going to be okay" Elenor reassured Liam with a smile.

"Chubs oh my god" Liam turned and saw Chubs' back was burnt.

"Liam you have to get out of here." Ruby told him.

"no we are. Come on, i'll get his legs, Elenor can you walk? I got Zu to a group of kids, she's going to be safe." Liam explained and Elenor sighed in relief, happy that zu is safe.

"Liam, Chubs needs a hospital." Ruby told him.

"Yea we'll find one, a vet, somebody" Liam said

"Liam we can't fix this." Ruby told him and he realised she was right and he sighed in defeat.

"I called somebody who can." Ruby said and Liam looked up and stood up.

"the league?" when Ruby looked down in shame, he knew the answer.

"no, Ruby," Liam started

"the enemy of my enemy." Ruby told him.

"you don't know what they're like." Liam told her.

"babe that's why you have to get out of here. you don't know what they'll do to you, you have to save .

"please Liam you have to go." Ruby insisted.

"no! we're family remember? and family stick together." Liam said and Elenor smiled at him. Elenor felt safe with him by her side and she leaned on his shoulder and slowly drifted into darkeness, with Liam's arm hugging around her.

after a few minutes, many black suv vans came up to their spot and the league came out of the cars as some of them pointed their guns to Liam and Ruby, but Cate stopped them and they lowered their guns. She carefully walked towards the 4 kids and and crouched down to their level.

"I'm glad you called Ruby." Cate smiled at her.

"Just help them please" Ruby pleaded for Cate to help Chubs and Elenor.

"we will bring them to the hospital, I promise, but you and Liam will have to come with me" Cate told her.

"I'm not leaving her" Liam told her with a stern voice, referring to Elenor.

"Alright fine, her injuries are not that serious so she can come with us, we have the materials to help her, but it would be better for him to go to a hospital." Cate told him and he nodded.  Cate instructed for some people to bring a stretcher for Chubs and they brought him to the van while Liam carried Elenor bridal style into the back of a different van, instructed by the league, and he placed her head on his lap while the rest of her body laid on the bench of the van. Ruby got into the van and sat across from Liam and the league drove off, to their base.
