Kiara knew that she would do it.
Everyone else knew it too... But if any still denied it, they sure as hell were proved wrong as she sat beneath the night sky filled with fireworks.
The night sky where fireworks of red, blue and purple were bursting brightly as she got out of the car. The skid Mark's of car donuts still remained on the track, the grandstands were filled with people cheering her on.
Kiara lifted her arms in celebration, then jumped off her car and spared not a second as she sprinted into the arms of Santiago and Lydia. Elijah was there, her mother too. The hugs and cheers went on for countless moment.
And all those moment eventually led up to the boat party of the night—the celebration.
The celebration of her winning the championship. Her first championship win.
The first woman to win the Formula One championship.
Minutes were barely spared as the next bottle of champagne was popped open, fireworks blasting into the night sky. The reflection of all the light on the river added onto it all.
"Whoo!" Ivy cheered, her arm around Kiara. "Kiara!"
"Bloody hell," Lando laughed as he hugged them both from behind. "I can't believe it!"
"You doubted me?" Kiara laughed out loud.
"Of course not." He quickly shook his head.
Kiara just grinned and looked up at the sky, looked around at the celebrations on the yacht around her. Her smile was full, genuine. The adrenaline of every moment rushed through her veins and she had even found herself shedding a few tears earlier on.
"Mama!"
Kiara whirled around as Ivy and Lando stepped aside.
"Elena!" Kiara laughed and stretched her arms out as Carlos ran over.
Kiara grabbed her daughter and pulled her into a hug.
Her daughter, who was already well past a year and a few months old.
"There's my girls." Carlos grinned and passed Elena over to Kiara. He planted a kiss on Kiara's cheek, his hand snaking around her waist.
"Mama won." Elena turns to tell her father, as if he didn't know already.
"Did she, now?" Carlos chuckled and ruffled up her hair.
Kiara just smiled and buried her face against Elena's neck, while Carlos pulled her against his side. They all look up at the fireworks for a few moments before Carlos eventually said. "Come on, Elena." He took her from Kiara's arms and set her down on the floor, pointing to where Alora and Charles motioned for her to run over to them.
Elena giggled and ran over to Alora, who picked her up as soon as she reached them.
"Cariño?" Carlos turned back to Kiara, now placing both hands on her waist.
Kiara looped her arms around his neck, titling her head back to look up at him. "Yes?"
"Did I tell you how much I love you?"
"Everyday, you idiot." She grinned, placing a kiss on his cheek.
Carlos leaned down and rested his forehead against hers, saying. "And I'm not going to stop."
"Oh, wow." She laughed softly.
Before letting her know, his hands dropped from her waist, one reaching into his pocket as he pulled away from her grasp.
Kiara lifted an eyebrow at him, about to ask what on earth he was doing.
But she didn't need to.
Not as he got onto one knee and held out the velvet ring box.
Kiara froze in place, a hand flying to cover her mouth as he said. "Never. I'll never top reminding you about how much I love you, about how beautiful you are to me. Kiara, you are the reason that I force myself up every morning, the reason that I am happy to be where I am. So, I'm going to ask you this once, once because I know that you feel the same."
"Carlos..." She mumbled as tears began to form in her eyes.
"Kiara Wolff, will you marry me?"
There was silence as soon as he said the words, silence as everyone on the boat stopped to look in anticipation.
Kiara stared down at the ring, a band of gold right in front of her eyes.
"Yes."
Carlos began to smile.
"Yes, yes." Kiara repeated as he began to stand up. "Yes!"
She was laughing tears as he slipped the ring into her finger and got to his feet, snatching her up in his arms to spin her around in the air. And when he set her down, the first thing she did was kiss him.
Cheers erupted to her right, where almost everyone on the boat stood and watched on.
Carlos smiled against the kiss, his hand now resting on the lower part of her back.
"Took you long enough." Lando shouted from nearby.
With his lips still on Kiara's, Carlos simply held up the finger to flip him off, causing all on the boat to laugh.
"I love you, Kiara." He repeated, her hands buried in his hair as she rested her forehead against his. "I love you so, so much, mi corazon."
"I love you too," She said, trying to keep her voice steady, "I love you, Carlos."
With those words, he kissed her again, as though he didn't care that everyone else was watching.
Kiara knew that she was crying, crying out of the pure joy she felt in that moment. She had already been deciding whether tonight was going to be one of the best of her life or not. And here, Carlos had just confirmed it all.
This was the best night of her life.
And she hoped to get more of it.
With a final wipe of her tears, she looped her arms around his neck as the fireworks still boomed above them. "To many more, Carlos."
He pulled her against him with a smile. "To many more, Kiara."
She had done it.
She had won—and not just at the championship.
At life.
