"Are you sure you're okay?" Ivy asked.
"Kind of," Kiara picked at her pasta and sighed tiredly.
"What did they say?" Ivy questioned as soon as she put her phone down.
Kiara had just gotten off the phone with Christian. The feedback, however, was bittersweet.
"They'll accept me for the first couple of races of 2025." She explained. "But if I don't perform in time, they are going to drop me out."
"Oh, God." Ivy groaned and rolled her eyes. "Only the first few races after you're back?"
"I have to work like hell." Kiara muttered, not in the mood to even finish her food.
"You can do it, Ki." She said, reaching across the table and putting a hand on hers.
"Not easy." Kiara murmured, leaning her head on her hand.
Training to go back into the sport after literally giving birth? Nothing about it sounded good.
"What does the team think?" Ivy asked. "I know that one must not have been easy."
"It wasn't," She nodded. "They congratulated me and seemed happy, of course... But you could still see it. You could still see that they were worried about next year."
"And?"
"And you can also see that they're starting to doubt me."
"Then, they're idiots." Ivy scoffed.
"Tell me about it." Kiara huffed, shaking her head as she moved her food aside.
"But..." Ivy added, pointing her fork. "You can always prove idiots wrong."
"Obviously," Kiara chuckled, her first laugh in a while since she left Austria.
A moment of silence passed by thereafter.
And Kiara thought of something...
When she looked up, Ivy did as well.
Both seemed to be thinking the same thing.
Kiara lifted the corner of her mouth. "I think I can prove them wrong."
Ivy grinned. "I think you can."
