I thought Chan's apartment would be way more messier than it was, but apparently living with other men doesnt actually mean your apartment is going to be in a uncleanable mess. I was pleasantly surprised with the aroma of the main room where the kitchen and sitting room was situated. It was a mixed of flower spray, and some kimchi around the kitchen. They're apartment was way smaller than mine, but when Chan led me to his room, again, I was pleasantly surprised.
His bedroom wasn't big, but instead small and really cosy. He had space from his door to walk in and be face to face with a small clothing rack, where all of his clothes were displayed and he had a lot. Behind his door was his bed in the middle of his room, and of course, it was made and neat. He bedsheets matched his pillows, unlike mine, and he had two bedside cabinets which held laps on. It was nice, but when he turned on the purple lights behind his bed, it seemed enchanting and incredibly cosy. I was tempted to ask if he wanted to stay in tonight.
By the wall opposite his bed, he had a desk. On his desk were two computers, and all the things that came with the computer. I wondered if he gamed, and liked to stream from his desk if he was allowed to from home. I smiled at his space, it was so very Chan. Sophisticated, neat, mature but also soft, warm and cosy. I liked his room a lot.
"I like it in here." I said, as I skimmed through his clothes. There was a lot of jumpers, and then they changed to sweatshirts.
"You should come around more then." He invited and I smile at him.
"I would love to." I smiled.
I looked down at my outfit. I was wearing a simple shirt, with a long coat over the top. I picked up one of Chan's jumpers. I took of my coat and dropped it gently on the end of Chan's bed. I slipped the jumper over my shirt, and wallowed into the soft material that was a little big on my shoulders. It smelt like him, a perfume I hadn't smelt before. I took comfort in it.
"Come on, should we leave?" He asked softly, almost in a whisper and I nodded.
He guided us down the building and through the car park. We started walking through the quiet, dark streets together. A soft silence following us. I realised I spent the whole time following Chan around, as if I was a stray puppy, but I knew that he knew the streets and he was leading us somewhere. I smiled, although we hadn't made conversation, the atmosphere surrounding us in our own little bubble was nice.
"I thought I was meant to be taking us somewhere." I chuckled as I walked side by side with him.
He smiled, the cap on his head shrouding my view of him a little. He looked at me, and motioned for me to take the lead. I had a place in mind for some food, and it would be quite a walk there but since Chan liked walking, I don't think he'd mind the distance. Plus, the place I had in mind for food was one of my favourite. During my hiatus, my manager would always order food for me from there.
"So...where are you taking me?" Chan began to talk.
"Somewhere special hyung. I think you'll really like it." I said with a smile as I began walking backwards to face him.
"I trust you. Are you going to pay?" He giggled at the idea, and I knew he was laughing because I was the younger one. Usually between good friends, the older one offers to pay.
"Sure. I'll treat you hyung." I smiled cheekily, and Chan chuckled softly.
"You know...I really didn't know about going out tonight with you. Just with everything that could go wrong...but it was Felix that told me that I would regret it." Chan announced and I slowed down to walk beside him again.
"Felix did?" I asked, anxious about what he might've said.
"Yeah." Chan chuckled as he kicked stones on the pavement beneath his feet, "He said that I would regret not giving you a chance. He said I wasn't getting any younger..."
I looked at Chan and chuckled. Chan looked at me and bumped my shoulder with a smile, and I laughed a little louder. I think that Felix's comment might've saved me getting left alone on this date. I would have to thank him later, but I realised I still had a lot of work to convince Chan and reassure him. Hell, even I needed some reassurance. This date, it was one of things I had looked forward to for the past week, and messing it up would hurt. Yet, there was always this paranoia at the back of my mind.
"Hyung. No matter how many times it takes, I reassure you. This will work out." I smiled softly, hoping the small gesture I was struggling to do was somewhat convincing. He nodded.
Eventually we turned to a small complete blacked-out alleyway. I paused suddenly, looking down there was terrifying. Chan stopped a bit in front of me, looking at me with a furrowed brow. It was a shortcut to the restaurant we were heading to, but my feet were planted solidly into the ground. My head was telling me to turn away, find another way, go some place else.
"Come on. We're only 5 minutes away." Chan encouraged me, but the fear was drowning him out. I couldn't bring myself to move.
"Can we go another way hyung?" I whispered out to him, he walked forward and looked at me closely.
"Rain-ah, you okay? Your shaking..." He whispered and his fingers grazed my own. I pulled back quickly, and managed to move my feet backwards, away from the dark, stingy alleyway.
"This way..." I forced out. I walked down the path away from the alleyway, and expected Chan to follow me.
I eventually heard his feet on the pavement, he was jogging my way while I sped away from the darkness of that street. Streetlamps were a constant on the open pavements, and those acted as my safety on the night-time. I wasn't used to walking late at night since my hiatus, and that's why I stayed in late at night and admired the city lights from afar. I could feel Chan looking at me from beside me, but I was glad he wasn't getting me to stop and ask about why I ran away.
Instead, he followed me quietly and when we got to our destination, he smiled. It was clear he was surprised with my choice, and I wondered if he had been here before.
"Why this place?" He asked as he looked over the menu from outside the building. I shrugged but he didn't see it. I was still a little shook up from the alleyway.
"It's comfort food I guess." I told him, and he nodded quietly and led us both in.
