Day 11 of 14
"Did you really have to make us sleep in a horse stable, there are insects here and the smell, oh my god, hideous"
Mingyu complains.
"Be grateful, for what I have done ok, if you're not go find yourself a place to sleep" Wonwoo sneers
" Shut up sleep, it's 2 am in the morning " Jungkook admonishes.
" Sorry" they both say simultaneously.
Jungkook sighs at their behaviour, these two have been going back and forth for God knows how long and honestly Jungkook is tired of their constant bickering. His head is throbbing from not sleeping for 3 consecutive nights all he wants is to just sleep peacefully for few hours. However he is unable to do so because he is feeling cold, earlier he was accustomed to chilly weather however since Taehyung's arrival he has gotten habitual of the constant warmness the man radiates physically and emotionally as well.
He wonders if Taehyung Is asleep or not is he eating properly or not, will he be cooped up in his art room b'coz he feels lonely quite often , and several other concern about Taehyung's well being bothers him.
His mind doesn't shut off but his body does and soon he is in dreamland, dreaming about himself and Taehyung by the Pond, under a tree, huddled up in their sweaters kissing sweetly under the moon.
"Hey you three wake up, wake up, what the hell they are sleeping like a log" Soobin says shoving the three men who are all huddled up together, to seek warmth from each other.
"Ughh waaakee up " he shouts in Wonwoo's ears.
Wonwoo immediately pushes Soobin on the ground, holding both his hands trapping him in a death grip. His soldiers reflexes kicking in
"W- what are you doing ?" Soobin coughes out, feeling his airway getting blocked due to pressure on his chest.
" Oh I am sorry, I am sorry I thought you were a thief" Wonwoo defends himself, releasing Soobin and patting him on the back softly.
"God Gracious, why would you think that?" Soobin says coughing
" I am sorry, just that I was dreaming about a robber robbing my money"
Wonwoo lies
"You've got no money" Soobin retorts
"Umm yeah"
"Hmphh only if he knew, I've got tons"
Wonwoo thinks to himself.
" Just wake up your friends, freshen up and join me for breakfast, I have cooked some sweet potatoes" soobin says standing up, and heading towards a small hut.
"Wheww" Wonwoo relaxes and glances at his 'two friends' clinging to each other.
" Do you have just these?" Mingyu says looking at his sad plate with just 2 whole sweet potatoes, nothing on the side, just plain dry boiled sweet potatoes.
"Umh yes" Soobin looks at him weirdly
"Stop complaining and eat, be grateful that you have gotten at least this much to eat" Jungkook says curtly and smiles at Soobin
"Thank you for the meal" Jungkook says and happily munches on his share of food.
" Why do you only have one in your plate?" Wonwoo asks soobin refering to his plate.
"Only this much is left, i cooked my week worth of ration for you guys" Soobin says smiling.
Mingyu looks at him shocked at his generosity, and now he feels bad.
He pouts softly and takes out one of the sweet potatoes from his plate placing it on Soobin's plate.
"What?" Soobin says perplexed.
"I don't like them, you can have it " Mingyu says focusing on gobbling up his left food.
Wonwoo clears his throat.
" By the way Soobin-shii, yesterday you said Wonwoo doesn't know about Quire's rule, what are the rules you were talking about?" Jungkook asks
"Oh that, as you guys are new here you don't know but, the thing is nobody here is allowed to interrupt soldiers, even if they are murdering someone"
"Why? Aren't these Soldiers here to protect people instead of killing them?" Mingyu says
"Exactly right, i thought so too, but the Governor and brigadier doesn't think so, whenever anyone tries to interrupt them or call out their injustice, then that person either becomes victim to the same fate or their livelihood gets destroyed"
"Oh, and that man was also talking about brothels, what about that?"
"Oh, that is nothing new too, most of the soldiers have brothels here, they first lend out money to helpless people with heavy intrest and then when those people aren't able to repay, these monsters forcefully take young women of the house and push them into brothels" Soobin says his voice turning bitter
" Does the king knows about all of these?" Jungkook inquires
"I hope he doesn't, because if he does and is not doing anything then there is no one to save us" Soobin says sadly
" The condition here is like these since as long as I can remember, people live here peacefully as long as we don't meddle with the soldiers but the situation is getting worse day by day, as the water crisis is not any close to getting solved, harvest is not good this year, I just hope somebody can help us " he says sadly
" Why aren't people protesting against these soldiers?" mingyu asks.
" How can we, they are trained and strong and moreover the ratio of soldiers here is 1 every 3 citizens, they will overpower us in no time "
" What 1 every 3 citizens, but the ratio should be 1 every 10 citizens" Jungkook says shocked, how are there this many soldiers in a rather small state.
" Oh that, I think so it's because we share 2 of our borders with Dernia, the Brigadier said it's important to do so" Soobin replies
"Oh" Wonwoo frowns at the information
And as for Jungkook he never ordered this many soldiers to be deployed in Quire, there is for sure something very fishy going on here.
But one thing is for sure, army here is not in need of reform it's in need of disbandment. Jungkook is sure that people portraying themselves as soldiers here are not his own they are maybe of Dernia, in an attempt to infiltrate the state and destabilize it, to make it weak and invade Alavania through Quire. He is also sure that the brigadier is in this too.
But looks like the Governor son's doesn't have knowledge of this or else he would have never planned a mutiny in the first place.
'so a dumb fucker has planned mutiny' Jungkook think to himself and smirks.
He connects the dots and reaches to a conclusion that the brigadier is coerced by none other than governor's son to stage a mutiny by holding his daughter prisoner.
And now this whole plan of Dernia got noticed by none other than the king himself.
Jungkook looks at Mingyu and Wonwoo, seeing them already looking at him , they must have also connected the dots.
"Thank you for the meal Soobin, we would be back at dawn" Jungkook says, announcing his leave.
"Mingyu you should return back to the capital, bring at least 2 lacs soldiers along with you, these men are not my Soldiers, capturing each and every one of them is one of our biggest priorities.
I am sure more than half of these men are trained soldiers of Dernia" the king orders quietly as soon as they leave the small hut
Mingyu nods and disappears out his sight in an instance.
"Wonwoo, I want you to find the governor's hideout I am sure he is not in his residence, no way would he be hiding brigadier's daughter in his residence, it will be too easy this way for the brigadier to find him and kill him."
Wonwoo nods and leaves as well.
'as for me, i would like to confirm one more thing'...
