A/N: I recognize that there are some *ahem* deviations from the books and movies. But you know what? It's a fanfic. MY fanfic. So yeah, I do what I want haha!

Bellamy wished that she could say sleep came easily to her that night. But she couldn't say that. The simple fact of the matter was that she felt excited. There was something altogether freeing and exhilarating about doing something dangerous, about doing something she probably shouldn't be doing.

She wasn't quite sure what that said about her though.

So try as she might, her mind just wouldn't shut down. Still, when the sun came peeking out, Bellamy felt rested enough. She could handle herself. She could do this.

Up and ready to go, Bellamy quickly grabbed some food that Frypan had prepared for Runners the night previous. She had tied up the laces on her shoes tightly, stretching out her hands above her head.

There were only a handful of people that were up at the moment—not that Bellamy particularly minded. She found it interesting, being able to watch others and see what they were like. People-watching seemed a rather odd hobby, but she picked up on things fast. It made her feel more secure.

After munching on what she thought was granola, Bellamy made her way over to the Maze, which should be opening within the next few minutes. Minho was already waiting there with two other boys.

"So you made it. That's good." Minho said shortly.

Bellamy scowled slightly, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "I'm serious about wanting to do this, you know."

"Good. Being funny about things will get you killed. You need to take it seriously." Minho advised, then glanced at the other two boys. "Since you're so dead-set on coming with me, you'll be with me today. Ben and Hank are going out to Sector 3. We'll be going to Sector 5."

"Sectors?"

Minho gave her a crooked grin. "Oh something you don't know?"

She nearly punched him—keyword there, nearly. Biting back annoyance, Bellamy just gave a nod. "Clearly."

"The Maze is divided up into different sections," Minho answered quickly. "Different sections have different setups. And it changes every day."

"Oh."

Oh—that was the stupidest thing she had ever heard. What kind of a place were they trapped in??

Ben and Hank exchanged a grim expression, then glanced over in Bellamy's direction. "Good luck," Hank said simply.

"Or not." Ben added with a shrug.

And with that, the duo disappeared into the Maze.

For a moment, Bellamy just watched their backs disappear and listened to the heavy silence that filled the space. "Alright Toots, let's get moving. Think you can keep up?" Minho asked, glancing at her.

Her features set. "Let's just see if you can keep up with me."

Minho nearly snickered, raising his brows in surprise. Her attitude being one of overconfidence was certainly one that was going to get her in trouble one day. He just wasn't sure that day was today.

"Let's make things interesting then. See you there!" Minho shoved her backwards and then took off sprinting.

A gasp slipped out of Bellamy's mouth and she barely managed to catch herself with her hands. Shoving off from the ground, Bellamy took off running, eyes flicking to the left turn that Minho was taking.

It was clear that he had no intention of actually training her—unless it was on-the-job training. And that was something that Bellamy understood. She barely had any time to process the Maze itself—
