A/N: My trio of iconic children, I will miss your dynamic. As always, let me know what you think please!

The trio sat by a window, watching the cityscape as night fell over the city of Chicago. "Do you ever wonder what's out there?" Vi questioned curiously, leaning back on her palms.

"Not really," Griff admitted with a shrug.

"Probably some...post-apocalyptic world." Bellamy murmured. "If there's one thing I'm learning...humanity finds a way."

"Do you ever think that we shouldn't?" Vi pressed.

"What's your point here, princess?" Griff nudged her foot with his own.

"I just mean," Vi said, running a hand through her hair. "Sometimes I think nature is supposed to win. We're the anomalies here. We're the outsiders."

"I guess you've got a point." Bellamy admitted. "But if you think about it, we're also miracles."

"How do you figure?" Griff asked, a deep sigh building in his throat.

"Besides the fact that you have the supernatural ability to annoy everyone?" Vi snapped.

Bellamy let out a genuine laugh at the comment. "She's got you there. I just think—our bodies work to fight off infection and disease. We grow and our cells change and—we have the ability to change. The system is what's wrong—they exclude the possibility for us to change."

"Change?" Vi asked curiously.

"Yeah. I wasn't a bitch and now I am. Change." Bellamy deadpanned.

Before either Griff or Vi could respond to that particular comment, there was a sound of glass shattering. In seconds, the trio was on their feet and ready for an attack. It came through the window, a man with a grapple crashing through.

Vi was on him in seconds, legs wrapped around his throat and sending him choking to the ground. Griff slung the gun from off the ground, eyes waiting and watching for others to come spilling from above.

Another one came crashing through the window, bullets raining at the trio. Bellamy tackled Vi out of the way as Griff shot the man point blank. She rolled to her feet and then lunged forward, leg slamming over the top of the man's back.

He fell to the ground, totally unconscious. Bellamy grabbed the gun and the trio moved forward. "Who the hell are these guys?" Griff demanded, opening the door.

"My guess? Eric's." Bellamy said in distaste, kicking at the nearest soldier. Griff shot him and he fell down the stairs. Vi just stood there watching, a smirk on her face.

Just then, the sound of bullets hitting the roof came from above. "We need to hide, now." Vi commanded.

No one had a problem with that particular command. They ducked into the nearest hall, pushing the doors open. People were screaming and it was absolute chaos. Eyes landing on a soldier that had cornered a little girl, Vi didn't hesitate.

She grabbed the gun from Bellamy's hands and took the shot. The bullet hit him right between the shoulder blade and the arm, forcing him to drop the weapon. Bellamy slid forward, leg slamming into his foot.

He crumpled and she turned, punching him in the neck. He fell to the ground unconscious and as Bellamy got to her feet, a bullet whizzed past her ear. It hit the man behind her and she grinned over at Griff, who had her back.

The trio didn't hesitate in ducking into the nearest bedroom and hiding in the closet, breathing immediately going quiet. Between the three of them, it was cramped and hot, but they were not willing to get shot.
