A/N: It's been a minute....but Bellamy's still going through it, so has anything really changed? Not really haha. But we're getting close to the Hunger Games portion of this fic soon :) Enjoy and let me know what you think!
Reunited with Brenda and Jorge, it felt like maybe they could get through this entire thing. But that was a big maybe. One of the first things that Brenda did was punch Thomas in the arm and cite Bellamy being disappointed in his dumbassery if she were here.
And he couldn't deny that that's exactly what Bellamy would probably be doing. But Bellamy would also probably have some sort of on-the-fly mad-genius plan to handle things. And he wasn't like that.
Now, staring ahead at the city from their spot on the hill, Thomas just wasn't sure of anything. It was beautiful—but heavily protected with a wall around it that seemed miles high. "Funny..." Newt mumbled.
"What?" Leo asked.
"We spend three years trapped behind walls trying to break out and now we want to break back in." Newt didn't miss the irony of the whole situation.
Frypan just snorted. "Hilarious."
"Jorge, how do we get in?" Thomas questioned, glancing over at the man.
"Don't look at me, hermano. Those walls are new," Jorge explained. "I guess that's WCKD's answer for everything."
"Well we're not going to figure it out from up here. Let's go!" Brenda called, tapping on the car.
Still, Thomas hesitated, gaze not willing to rip away from the walls of the city. "You think they're in there?" Newt questioned.
"I guess we'll find out." Thomas mumbled.
"Figures...they build a wall to keep your girlfriend in. She's terrifying, mate."
Thomas just gave Newt an exhausted look. "She's not my—"
"Oh don't argue." Newt insisted. "And for the record, Teresa will be there too."
Thomas's expression visibly darkened at the thought of Teresa being there. He couldn't help it—there were a lot of bitter feelings associated with someone he thought was their friend. Someone who had betrayed them and was helping torture his other friends—and yes, maybe his girlfriend. He hadn't even gotten that far yet.

It felt strange, being back in a city. There were people everywhere—way more people than in the ruined city that Thomas had been in before. This was the last remaining city of the west and he fully believed that now.
They moved forward, pushing past people and trying to keep their heads down. No use in getting this close to WCKD, only to get caught at this point.
"This place has really gone to hell," Jorge said, gaze flickering at the poverty people were living in. It hadn't been great before and now? Now it was so much worse.
"We just gotta stay together—" Thomas started. He didn't get very far into his words, since a megaphone was announcing some sort of doomsday words.
From behind them in the crowd, an armored truck was plowing forward. "We are the voice of the voiceless! They hide behind their wall, thinking they can keep their cure for themselves while they watch the rest of us whither and rot!"
They cleared the way for the procession of rebels to pass through the street, continuing to listen to the rabble. As one of the trucks passed, Thomas found someone staring him down, gas-mask on and face obscured as they passed the group.
