FRENCH QUARTER / MIKAELSON COMPOUND / HAYLEY'S ROOM
[Elijah has just returned home to the Mikaelson compound, and is standing by the Hayley's room. After a moment, Hayley walks out. Like Elijah, Hayley is still in her gown from the party, and both look exhausted as they begin to speak to each other.]
Hayley: I finally got her to sleep. I'll have to explain this family to Hope someday. I think about that sometimes.
Elijah: [curiously] What do you think? [As they speak, the scene cuts to Klaus, who has just returned to his study to find a post-it note stuck on his decanter of bourbon on the table. He picks up the note, which reads "This is your heads up. I'll be here all day. --Freya," as Hayley continues speaking in voiceover.]
"Cute." Said Bella.
Hayley: [voiceover] I wouldn't lie to her. I'll never lie to her. [Klaus smiles and sets down the note, and the scene cuts back to where Hayley and Elijah are talking on opposite balconies.]
Hayley: But, you know what I'll start with? "Always and forever."
Mikaelsons smile.
[Elijah smiles at these words. Back in Klaus' study, he's in the middle of writing his own note for Freya. Once he's done, he sticks the note on the stopper of the decanter of bourbon before he leaves. The note reads, "Thank you. --K".]
Bella smiles.
Elijah: I'm sorry. I... I should have told you what was happening.
Hayley: You made him, right? Tristan?
Elijah: I think it would be more accurate to say that we made each other, but yes. I turned him. What was your impression of Tristan de Martel?
Hayley: [shrugs] I don't know. He seemed... incomplete. [On the streets of the French quarter, Marcel passes a woman in a teal-blue taffeta gown, the one who Freya passed in the hallway at The Strix's party when she went to "rescue" Alexis. The woman drops an empty glass vial into a nearby dumpster. Back at the Mikaelson compound, Hayley and Elijah continue to talk.]
Elijah: [nods] He has a sister... Aurora.
FLASHBACK—DAVILLA ESTATE, THE PREVIOUS NIGHT
[At the party, the woman in the teal dress and a turquoise and gold masquerade mask empties the full contents of a glass vial of poison into Alexis' wine glass, the same glass vial that she just threw away in the present. Alexis, who looks devastated by her vision, has her back to the woman and thus doesn't see what she's doing. The woman in the teal dress smiles and removes her masquerade mask, revealing that she is actually Aurora herself.]
"Of course." Said Bella with an eyeroll.
[She smirks triumphantly as Elijah continues speaking in voiceover.]
Elijah: [voiceover] To be perfectly frank with you, I'm surprised that he's without her. [The scene cuts back to the Mikaelson compound to see Elijah looking at Hayley with concern.]
Elijah: His devotion to her is absolutely pathological.
"He isn't exagerating. He's like obsessed with her. And i don't think it's sibling way." Said Bella. Everyone looked disgusted.
"You don't mean--?" Said Davina.
"Just my opinion." Said Bella.
[In the French quarter, Aurora throws her mask into the dumpster as well before the scene returns to Elijah and Hayley's conversation.]
Elijah: It's dangerous.
Hayley: [smiles weakly] Loyalty doesn't make people dangerous, Elijah.
"It does. Things you would do for someone, because you are loyal. It's dangerous." Said Bella.
[Elijah gulps nervously and watches as Hayley turns and walks back into her room.]
FLASHBACK-- COURT OF MARSEILLES, 1002 AD
[Klaus is writing a letter to Aurora as he experiences a flashback to his time at the Count de Martel's castle in the early 11th century. While he writes, he narrates the letter in voiceover as the scene cuts back and forth to the events he references. In the flashback, Elijah and Finn are practicing throwing blades at a target together in the field outside of the castle while Klaus sits nearby on a blanket that is surrounded by baskets of fruit, cheese, bread and wine. Klaus watches as Aurora braids Bella's hair over by a large tree and chatter amongst themselves. As Aurora braids, she looks over at Klaus and realizes he's staring at her. Klaus looks mildly embarrassed, but Aurora smiles at him.]
Klaus: [voiceover] I never meant for you to know me. I never meant to let you in. [The scene cuts to a short time later, where Klaus and Aurora are standing close to each other as they hide behind a tree. Klaus stares at her adoringly as she smiles and caresses his cheek with her hand. Klaus repeats the gestures to Aurora as well.]
Klaus: [voiceover] But then, I should not have kissed you. [Klaus leans forward and kisses Aurora, gently at first before it becomes more passionate.]
Klaus: [voiceover] Not the first time. [Aurora breaks away and stares at Klaus longingly, which causes him to smile at her. Night has fallen, and Aurora is in her chambers, where she's applying a fragrance of some kind onto her neck as she sits on her bed. She smiles just a moment before Klaus walks nervously into her room.]
Klaus: [voiceover] Certainly not the second. There is a light in you so bright it makes me feel like the man I wish I was... and forget the thing I am. [Klaus sits down in front of Aurora on her bed and cups her face in his hand before the two begin to make out.]
Klaus: [voiceover] I am chained to certain hungers, and have damned another to my fate... [In the chapel, Lucien and Klaus are feeding on a man together. Lucien stops for a moment to enjoy the rush before biting into their victim's neck again and drinking deep. Klaus looks proud as he watches Lucien eat, but his smile wipes right off his face when he sees a horrified Aurora in the doorway, stunned speechless by what she's just seen.]
Klaus: [voiceover] You've seen what we do-- we hunt. [Lucien, concerned, vamp-speeds toward Aurora, but before he can get close, Bella vamp-speeds into the room out of nowhere and blocks his path as Lucien glares at her.]
Bella: Lucien leave!
Lucien: Oh, now you talk to me? Why don't you run? Isn't it what you have been doing since that day?
Bella: Are you seriously blaming me?!
"The audicity." Scoffed Layla.
Klaus: [voiceover] We feed. We kill.
[When Bella turns back to check on Aurora, her newborn vampire hunger gets the better of her, and her vampire face comes out, scaring the human noblewoman so much that she shrieks and runs away. Bella turns back to Klaus with a panicked look on her face, and Klaus is too overwhelmed to move.]
Klaus: [voiceover] But what I am, I can't answer. My family are the first-- there is no name for it. [It is daytime now, and Aurora is laying on her side in the middle of a patch of wild lavender, sobbing from what she had witnessed Klaus and Lucien had done. Klaus watches her sadly from a hill far behind her, holding a folded piece of parchment with writing on both sides in his hand.]
Klaus: [voiceover] But I also desire. Deeply. [Klaus vamp-speeds toward Aurora, who hears the wind blow past her and sits up in alarm. However, Klaus has actually run past her, leaving behind only the letter he had written for her.]
Klaus: [voiceover] And I can love... As I love you. [Aurora picks up the letter and reads it, smiling even as tears fill her eyes.]
MIKAELSON COMPOUND
[Klaus, Bella and Elijah have just returned to the compound, where they are discussing recent events.]
Klaus: So, my first sired wants to kill you. Yours wants to kill me. Makes you regret turning vampires in the first place.
Bella: Mine turned out most unproblematic. Didn't excpect that.
"You jinxed it!" Said Layla.
[Elijah, Bella and Klaus are so shocked by what they see as they enter the courtyard that they stop dead in their tracks. The cashier from the Jardin Gris shop is laying dead on the floor on a bed made of lavender sprigs. The woman has slashed both of her wrists and has presumably bled out onto the floor due to Aurora's compulsion. Klaus, horrified, races toward the girl to examine the body and finds a letter in her hand. He picks it up and skims it quickly, and its obvious by the look on his face that it isn't good. Klaus stands to his feet before silently handing Elijah the letter, not even looking him in the eyes. Elijah curiously reads the letter aloud for the audience's benefit.]
Elijah: "Roses are red, lavender is blue. Come find me before I find you."
"Why is everyone so dramatic?" Said Davina.
[Klaus, realizing Aurora is back, is so overwhelmed by this newest development that he cannot speak. Bella patts his arm in support.]
