The tension in the small council room was thick, starting with the talks of war and then fueling to a power display between the Princess Rhaenyra and the Queen Alicent Hightower.Rhaenyra sat lax in her chair, using her finger to play around with her marble placed before her staring down Alicent as she spoke.
"Let's us be finished", Alicent stared back at Rhaenyra as she stood up, brushing herself off, the rest of the room following suit.
Viserys nodding and muttering in agreement as Alicent began to help him up.
Rhaenyra however stayed sitting as she called to everyone in the room. "Wait", they all froze in their stance. "I wish to speak."
"Be seated", Viserys gestured to the other lords as they sat, sitting down himself as Rhaenyra stood up.
The only one other than Rhaenyra left standing was Alicent herself who stayed stood across the table, waiting to hear whatever nonsense Rhaenyra was about to speak.
"I have felt the...", Rhaenyra began nervously, not looking at Alicent as she tried to find the right words. "...strife..between our families of late, my Queen."
Rhaenyra then looks up to Alicent as their eyes met, both women watching each other. Alicent waiting to hear what she had to say next and Rhaenyra trying to gouge her reaction as she spoke.
"And for any offense given by mine, I apologize", Rhaenyra spoke. "But we are one House...", she hesitated. "...and long before that, we were friends."
Both women paused after that, Rhaenyra trying to see how her words affected the red head.
It wasn't the reaction she wanted as Alicent fluttered her eyelids in annoyance, Rhaenyra glancing away for a second as she thought more on what to say.
"My son, Jacaerys will inherit the Iron Throne after me. I propose we betroth him to your daughter, Helaena", Rhaenyra proposed to Alicent and Viserys.
"Me and the King have already agreed on that we'd marry Helaena to Aegon", Alicent told her truthfully, her and Viserys had discussed on this.
"Then your other daughter...A-Aemma", Rhaenyra struggled to get the name out, Alicent also blanching at the name. "Ally ourselves, once and for all. Let them rule together."
"A most judicious proposition", Viserys cheered, looking toward his wife happily.
Alicent however was not happy, in her mind she was going over all the ways she could deny this proposal, that was clear on her face to everyone and with that Rhaenyra continued.
"Additionally, if Syrax brings forth another clutch of eggs, your son Aemond will have his choice of them...Aemma too, uh...", Rhaenyra searched her mind for words as she smiled up to Alicent. "..a symbol of our goodwill."
Her smile wavered as she caught sight of Alicent staring down before looking back up at her, not her face. "Rhaenyra", Alicent warned looking down.
Rhaenyras eyes following to see that she had two wet stains where she had lactated through her dress, raising her hands to cover herself as she sat down.
"Oh, Seven Hells", she muttered as she looked around the room at all the lords trying not to look at her.
"My dear..", Viserys then brought her attention to him. "A dragons egg is a handsome gift, never mind two."
"The King and I thank you for you offer and we will consider it duly", Alicent then offered up, already knowing what her answer would be, turning them to Viserys. "You must rest now, Husband."
"Yes", he agreed as she walked over to help him up, walking behind him as they left the room.

•|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|•"How sweetly the fox speaks when it's been cornered by hounds", Alicent quoted as she walked back to his chambers.
Both of them turning to go up the large staircase to where his chambers resides, Ser Criston following behind.
"She is sincere", Viserys told her.
"She is desperate", Alicent argued back. "She feels the earth washing away beneath her feet and now she expects us to ignore her transgressions."
They began to walk up the staircase, Alicent continuing her rant. "And for me to marry my onl-my daughter", Alicent corrected herself. "To one of her...plain-featured sons."
"The proposal is a good one, my Queen", Viserys stopped going up, Alicent and the knights behind them also stopping mid way.
"We're a family. Let us put aside these childish quarrels. Join hands and be stronger for it", Viserys tried to convince her. "You also forget that our daughter also would be considered plain-featured", he then added, like adding fuel to a raging fire.
"You may do as you wish, Husband. When I am cold in my grave", she spat down to him, turning around before turning back to him.
'Of course he could see that THEIR daughter was plain featured but not Rhaenyras sons', Alicent thought snidely to herself, her anger bubbling up.
"Our daughter is not plain-featured", she stressed to him angrily, tears in her eyes as she then marched back up the stairs.
She would take no such slander on her beautiful, perfect, precious little flower. Not even if it was from the King, especially from the King.
"Alicent", Viserys called after her. Alicent not stopping for a second, ignoring his calls after her. "Alicent!"
