The sun had risen since the night before, not that any thought it would, it being a longer night for everyone, hours feeling like days as they were all restless from the events that had occurred only hours ago.Now sitting in her temporary chambers in Driftmark was Alicent and Aemma, Alicent attending to Aemmas wounds before their departure from Driftmark.
Alicent had taken to attending to Aemmas wounds on her own, not trusting any Maester or handmaiden, even her closest one Talia to take care or her Flower.
She knew she couldn't completely heal her daughters hands, but she would do her best to get them back to as soft as they once were.
"The remedy is a good one, there already healing nicely", Alicent put on a smile for her daughter as she finished coating some of the remedy onto Aemmas hands, directly onto the wounds.
"There ugly", Aemma frowned as she looked at the jagged stitching littered all around her palms.
"Nothing could look ugly paired with you", Alicent disagreed as she took cloth in her hands, beginning to carefully wrap them around Aemmas hands. "You always shine, my Flower."
Once finishing with wrapping up her hands, Alicent leant down and placed a soft kiss on the bandaged palms of her daughter, keeping herself from tearing up in front of Aemma as she did, still distraught from the injustice of it all.
A light knock on the door echoed into the room, springing Alicent up from her position and drying her eyes.
"Your Grace", Ser Cristons voice came from behind the wood, slightly muffled.
"You may enter, Ser", Alicent announced.
The doors to her chamber opening to reveal the handsome knight standing before it, bags and trunks by his side.
"I have packed the Princesses belongings as you've asked, my Queen", he bowed his head to her, smiling back at Aemma who was beaming at him.
"Thank you, Ser Criston", Alicent smiled at him, thankful that her children had some fatherly figure they could look up to and who better than the honorable Ser Criston Cole.
Alicent then nodded to two handmaidens outside the door waiting who then reached forward and took the bags bringing them down to the carriages to then go onto the ship.
Standing up, Alicent busied herself with cleaning up all the medical supplies packing them all neatly so she'd be able to tend to Aemmas hands properly should anything occur on the boat ride back to Kings Landing.
"Ser Criston", he became alert at the mention of his name, looking to his Queen. "Please escort the Princess to the ship for me", Alicent smiled slightly, needing some time on her own with her thoughts.
"At once, Your Grace", he bowed before turning to Aemma with a large smile. "Let us go, Flower", he walked to her, taking her gently by her arms and pulling her up from the chair, placing her down onto the ground.
Going to lead Aemma out of the room, Ser Criston was stopped by a tug on his cloak, turning slightly to see a tiny hand awaiting mid air.
Criston tried to pretend to be annoyed, but he couldn't help the smile that peaked through his stoic mask, taking ahold of Aemmas hand gently.
Feeling a tug in his hand now Ser Criston looked down to the girl who used her other hand to gesture for him to lean down.
"Yes, Princess", he had to kneel down to get to her height, his armor restricting a lot of his motion.
"Can we get lemon cakes?", she tried to whisper, not wanting her mother to hear as Alicent didn't usually permit her children having any sweets before dinner.
Chuckling Criston glanced to Alicent who watched on with a fond smile, waiting for an answer from her, glancing back to Aemma when Alicent gave a nod.
"If we're quick enough we might even be able to take some for the journey home", he whispered back to her, standing up to his full height and making sure to hold her hand.
"Can we get some for Aemond? He also likes them", Aemma then asked as she was lead out of the room by the knight.
Leading her out of the room Ser Criston turned his head to bow to Alicent before he left, shutting the door behind him.
Alicent watching on with a content smile, happy that she at least had someone that valued the safety and care for her children besides herself.
