It was quite and early the next morning, a surprising thing to happen when put against the events that were occurring on this very morning.

Rhaenyra, Daemon and their children had left back to Dragonstone immediately that very night after the feast, thinking it best after the catastrophic feast, Rhaenyra promising to return to Alicent on Dragon back.

Though Rhaenyra would not be returning to Alicent on Dragon back, not on the grounds she would've intended anyways.

As it seemed the Gods were not on their side again this time, seeming to pit the friends against each other for a lifetime after they'd made up once more.

It seemed every time that they made up after a fight they would fall out once more and each time they did, the reasoning always became worse and worse.

The first time they fell out it was because Viserys had chosen to take Alicent as his new bride, the two girls then rekindling their friendship after awhile for a short time until the second time where Rhaenyra did not confide in Alicent in her endeavors, which got Alicent to not only loose her friend, but also her father as a companion.

The third time they hadn't exactly made up, but it definitely did not put each other in the others good books when Jace and Luce harmed Aemond and Aemma.

Now was the fourth time, after they'd finally rekindled once again after all these years, apologized and forgiven one another, it was now the fourth and final time that they would ever forgive one another.

The day Viserys the Peaceful died!

The old King Viserys drew his final breath late at night after Alicent had left him after attending to him like the dutiful wife she was, feeding him Milk of the Poppy and listening to all his mad, crazy tales before retiring herself for the night.

Because of her kindness and devotion for the King she had once again stayed and listened to his many stories, as he often recounted to her.

Telling her all about his suppose on 'Dragon Dream', and The Prince that was Promised, she'd heard them over and over again.

Only this time the sick Viserys had thought he was talking to Rhaenyra late at night, as he done the night before, having mistaken Rhaenyra for Alicent.

Now was his turn to mistake that Alicent was Rhaenyra as he muttered on all about the Prince that was Promised, all until he jabbered on about Aegon.

Alicent having stuttered, stunned as she tried questioning him once more about their son Aegon, thinking back on many years ago on Aegons second name day when Viserys had told her that he always dreamt of a son, his son standing in the flames of the fire with a crown on his head.

That was why on the morning the Queen was informed of her husbands death her mind racked with all these thoughts and the only one she could come to was that on his death bed, he had consoled in her that he wished for their son Aegon to be King, which by proxy would make her daughter Aemma, Queen.

She also didn't know if she wanted that for her daughter, going through what she had suffered herself, could she really put her kids through that.

That is when she really begun to think of her kids, remembering those words her father had told her all those years ago, it singing like a mantra in her head.

"you chose Rhaenyra!", Echoed in her head after she'd taken Rhaenyras words of her virtue over her fathers, that choice making Viserys remove Otto as hand.

Making those years for her quite lonely, everyone only thinking of her as the Queen, the Kings wife, she was blessed to find friendship in Larys and Criston after that and of course, she had her children.

She would always have her children and that is why this time she would choose her family, protect her family over a childhood friendship, that could come second.

"Listen to me daughter. The King will die, it may be months or years, but he'll not live to be an old man and if Rhaenyra succeeds him war will follow, do you understand? The Realm will not accept her and to secure her claim she'll have to put you and your children to the sword! she'll have no choice."

She couldn't let that happen, she wouldn't let that happen. The King has died, he did not live to be an old man, though he looked it, her fathers words were true.

"You know it. You're no fool and yet you choose not to see it. The time is coming Alicent. Either you prepare Aegon to rule, or you cleave to Rhaenyra and pray for her mercy!"

She would not cleave to Rhaenyra and she would not cleave to her father. He was right, Alicent was no fool and she knew her father was not a man to be trusted fully.

She knew that if Otto got his hands on Aegon it would not serve the Realm dutifully, he would slaughter Rhaneyra and all her children, and that is not what Alicent wanted.

As much as she did not want to see her own children put to the sword, she did not have the stomach for the bloodshed of Rhaneyra and her family.

It was not in her nature, as Queen she had served the Realm clemently and dutifully, not once going about with the intent to rule it unfairly.

That is why she knew that she had to be smarter, smarter than Rhaneyra and smarter then her father if she wanted all this to work out in her favor.

She knew her father would help her with everything leading up to crown Aegon King, but she didn't entrust him enough to be whispering in Aegons ear.

That is why she was going to get to Aegon first, prepare him to rule, Aemma too. The time was here and it would mean war.

And there was no such war messier than a war between Dragons!
