A mass of people were trying to all hoard into the Dragon Pit at once, the Pit packed fully to the brim as everyone was trying to squeeze in together. A lot having to just stand outside in a crowd around the doors instead as the it got overfilled, but that's what the Greens wanted, this was a good sign, it meant everyone was here. The common folk were all trying to get a glimpse at the family who were all dressed to the nines, with their heads held high as they faced on the crowd, standing out in their gowns and garbs from the small podium like stage they were on.
Aemma was looking around, standing with Helaena between her and Aemond and Criston Cole stood slightly behind her.
She was surveying the crowd, trying to gauge their reactions to this all of a sudden meeting that was sprung upon them on this random day.
Stepping forward Otto cleared his throat as he began to address the crowd, speaking as loudly as he could to make sure everyone heard what he was going to announce.
"People of Kings Landing!", he got there attention, the Dragon Pit going silent as they all tuned in. "Today is the saddest of days. Our beloved King, Viserys the Peaceful.....is dead."
The Dragon Pit filled with whispers and murmurs of all sorts of chatter, the people talking amongst one another.
"But it is also the most joyous of days", Otto reassured them, making them go quiet once more as he talked. "For as his spirit left us, he whispered a wish that his first born son Aegon .....should succeed him!"
Uproar started, the common folk beginning to discuss amongst each other once more, people trying to look up at the family to see if they could spot Aegon who was not there, though they didn't get to for long as Knights marched in, making a clear pathway from an off to the side staircase to the stage area were the rest of the family was.
At the beginning of this new path, musicians stood there holding their trumpets up to their mouth at the played an announcing tune to the crowd, gaining their attentions as everyone looked over to the area.
All the Knights then unsheathed their swords and held them up high, Aegon appearing from the shadows by the staircase, trying to hold his head up high as he did, though his eyes remained in the ground.
Taking his first step, he descended down the steps, beginning to walk forward and past the first set of Knights, who on his passing brought their swords down, this same act continuing on as Aegon passed each set of Knights.
"This is your great good fortune at privilege to be here, to witness this! A new day for our City! A new day for our Realm! A new King to lead us!"
Otto yelled out them as Aegon got closer and closer the the podium all his family stood on, his eyes focusing in on his family who stood high waiting for him.
Alicent standing to the right with a smile to encourage him on, Otto stood behind her and i. the left was Aemond, Helaena and Aemma, Ser Criston stood slightly behind them.
As gif to the steps leading to the podium Aegon looked up and met the eyes of Aemma who sent him a reassuring smile, not knowing that, that smile is what lead him up the stairs. Aegon being so tempted to have turned back and ran back the way he came.
The Knights behind him resheathing their swords, bowing and then marching back off in formation once Aegon had made it up to meet his family.
Waltzing forward Alicent cupped Aegons cheeks, leaning up to place a soft kiss on his forehead, holding to his arm as she walked him forward to the High Septon.
Kneeling to the ground as instructed to do so, Aegon looked up as the Septon walked toward him a bowl in hand.
Dipping his thumb into the holy water, the Septon held his thumb up to Aegon forhead, hovering it there as he spoke. "May the Warrior bring him courage!", the Septon spoke, swiping his thumb on Aegons forehead.
The Septon dipped his thumb in the water again, bringing it toward Aegon again. "May the Smith lend strength to his sword and shield!", he swiped it into his forehead.
"May the Father defend him in his needs!", the Septon had once again, dioped his thumb into the holy water and swiped it across Aegons forehead.
"May the Crone lift her shining lamp and light his way to wisdom!", he once again repeated the sacred action for the last time, bowing and taking a step back.
Ser Criston Cole then stepping forward, holding the Conquerers Crown, Aegon Targaryens Crown. It was a sort of black, dusty metal that had red rubies welded into it, shining bright in comparison to the dark metal.
Stopping in front of Aegons kneeled figure, Ser Criston looked up to the crowd, holding the Crown up high for everyone to see as he spoke loudly.
"The Crown of the Conquerer, passed down through generations!", the Greens we're making sure that everyone witnessed this moment, the crown being placed on Aegons head!
It was a smart maneuver to make this work, to make sure everyone agreed and knew Aegon to be their King. To choose him in favor of Rhaenyra.
This was a perfectly planned out coronation, gathering every being in Kings Landing to the Dragon Pit, making a huge spectacle and having witnesses.
It was all a plot, they knew most likely that war would ensue after this, but they also knew they had a better chance, not if they had the most dragons or the best well trained soldiers, but if they had the people.
The people were their brightest concern, it was who the people wanted as their King or Queen, to rally behind them, to look for guidance and entrust in them to protect the city.
That is why they were talking loud, almost over pronouncing words to make sure the people heard, everything was a master plan, it had to be for this to play out properly in their hands.
Their well crafted hands!
