'Who the hell won World War I?' [Name] thought as they were looking at the history exam paper. It is a fact, that 8 am and a History exam is not the best pairing, but It's not the worst: the one that can drive [Name] insane is having double PE in the first two periods. But that's not today, that's on Tuesday.
Saying that they didn't even touch the History textbook this week, is not enough to express how dumb they were in this topic. They glanced at the person next to them, asking for answers without saying a word, but the teacher walked around the classroom, making it impossible to cheat. They looked back on their paper, trying to make a guess. 'Was it Austria? Eh, better than nothing.' [Name] wrote the answer under question number 7.
As they were to start thinking about the eighth question, the bell rang.
'Oh, you fucking piece of...' they had no clue why, but recently they cursed more than a seventh grader should. The teacher collected the exam papers. When the teacher took it from [Name], they could swear their life on it, that Mr Yamashita gave them a grin that screamed 'Oh, this little shit is going to fail for sure.'
The teacher quickly collected the exams and left the classroom.
"Guys, is it possible that I'll not fail, even tho I didn't finish the last two questions?" [Name] asked as they turned to their friends. Sota, who was sitting next to Ren, shook his head.
"I don't think so." he pat [Name]'s shoulder. "but don't worry, we are all going to fail."
Behind [Name], Amaya smashed her head on the desk. Everyone from the friend group looked at her with a look of confusion on their faces, as they didn't know what caused her to do this.
"Dude, what's wrong with you?" Ren asked.
They all knew that Amaya's parents are very strict when it comes to grades, but the other thing Amaya was known for, is that no matter how much she studied, it was always either a C or a D+ she got on a test.
"I literally only wrote the same answer to every question." she mumbled.
Almost everyone near her facepalmed, as they heard her response. [Name] was scared, that if they ask the next question, they'll lose braincells than they already had, but they did anyways.
"What was it?"
"Hitler."

[Name] thought nothing could be worse than the History exam that day, but oh boy, they couldn't be more wrong.
They had math after history. [Name] wasn't stressed about the subject, unlike their friends. [Name] understood it, knew the definitions, the teacher wasn't an asshole, and they even liked math... So far as they haven't got another weird wave of feelings which made them question everything.
They were sitting next to Sota, as the teacher was trying to lure them to join a math competition that is being held next thursday. 'This doesn't sound that bad... I might apply for this.' they thought, then raised their hand to let the teacher know that they are interested in it.
Just as their teacher wrote up their name on a piece of paper, they noticed that it started to get slightly hotter in the classroom. A sweat drop ran down on their face. Not understanding the change of the temperature, they glanced at Sota, who had no idea either about what's going on.
It explained everything when the fire alarm went off.
The teacher was the first one to realize what was happening. They slammed their notebook on the table to get the children's attention, then yelled at the top of their lungs: "Everyone, out of the classroom! This is not a drill!"

[Name] was surprised that they were not as scared as expected while running down the hall. They didnt feel fear or anxiety at all. They knew they are not that brave, but somehow still managed to keep their chill. 'Did I forget about something?'
The smoke made [Name] constantly cough, and it was also harder to see what's going on. Nobody knew how the fire started, or if there was a chance in suriviving. The only thing the kids could do was hoping their teachers knew what they were doing and trusting them with every inch of their bodies. [Name] could barely see the teacher ahead of the crowd of seventh garders. The siluette of the person on the front dodged something in a big arch, but [Name] couldn't really guess why. It was until they reached the place, where the ceiling fell down.
They unintentionally slowed down infront of it. 'What's in there?' They took a closer look. A body. No. Two bodies.
As the realization hit them, they treached for the beams. They couldn't save them, and they knew that. But they still wanted to see who's in there. A child's curiosity can risk their lifes, but what's life without risks, I guess? [Name] threw away the pieces that were once the part of the ceiling. The girders were hot, and by that, it burned their hands, but it seemed like they didn't even notice. As the worked on it more, they saw a little bit more of the people inside. Their burned skin, their broken limbs, the deformed head shape. A slight of disgust formed on [Name]'s face as they saw the smashed body parts, but they kept going...
Just as they reached in deeper, they froze in place when the saw familiar faces. 'Oh hell no...'
[Name] took her mother's face in her hands. Her neck was smashed by a beam, and doesn't matter how gentle they were, her head detached from her body. Her blood splashed on the bottom half of [Name]'s uniform, but they didn't care. They were too focused on their deceased mother. They kneeled down infront of the corpses, then began:
"Oh, mom... you unfortunate soul." they said between a huge amount of coughs. "You did everything you could... Thank you. I love you. You too dad." [Name] turned to the father's body. They sighed, then kissed her mother on the forehead and put the head on a beam.
They heard the sounds of the approaching flames and a wall collapsing in the distance. [Name] slowly stood up in defeat. Their heartbeat started to accelerate, but no tear left their eyes. After turning back to glance at the bodies one last time, they ran after the others, in hope of getting out alive...
