Nothing is better than taking a breath of the fresh air after escaping a burning building and almost dying. Atleast that's what [Name] thought while running down the halls, searching for their classmates.
'Where the fuck are they?' they thought while taking a right turn. The fire spread very quickly while making [Name] more and more anxious. The rate of surviving was already low for them, and since they spent some time with their parents' corpses, they almost lost hope.
'Well, atleast I could say goodbye to my parents, so now i won't feel quilty for the rest of my life.'
They panted heavily as their lungs could hardly take the smoke and the strain. Their legs felt numb, but they kept going. [Name] didn't know how much time do they have left until collapsing.
They rushed down the stairs. They grabbed into the railing in fear of falling down on the stairs, but they didn't know that it wasn't the only danger that lurks there. Just as they put their foot on one of the steps, by the cause of it being made by wood, it broke. They stepped into the hole and almost hit their head on the lower parts of the stairs. They raised their arms infront of their face, preventing having a concussion.
The head was fine, but all of their limbs felt like hell - that one leg what was stuck in the hole had several deep cuts caused by the broken wood planks. [Name] felt the blood run down on their calf. They had a feeling that they might've broken their wrists, but they weren't so sure about it.
They slowly got up and tried to get their leg out of the hole. They pulled it out carefully, trying to not cause any other harm to it. [Name]'s leg was almost fully covered in blood, as they could hardly find a place where it had their original skin color, and not the color of their meat. It didn't hurt as much as expected, it was just rather disgusting to watch.
[Name] hurried down to the ground floor. They knew the main entrance was too far away, so they looked for that one exit that leads to an alley next to the school. When they passed the supply closet, they saw the green sign of the emergency exit.
They heard coughing from a classroom. They immediately stopped to look for the trapped person. They didn't know why they decided to do that, maybe they grew a heart in the middle of the fire or something. [Name] looked after the person almost everywhere until they opened the chemistry lab and found a man inside.
The man looked no older than twenty. He was on his knees coughing, as the fire spread in the classroom, almost closing him in a circle of flames. He looked at [Name] with his ocean blue eyes, seemingly asking for help.
The seventh grader ran to the middle of the lab and bent down to the man to help him...
>><<
Both of them took a deep breath in the air as they got out of the school. [Name] leaned against a wall in the alley when they let go of the man. The sweat drops on their legs made the cuts to sting like hell. They took a quick glance at the mixture of blood and sweat, then looked up, trying to hold back the urge to cry.
The person next to [Name] checked his pulse after letting out a sigh. They took a closer look on the man as he didn't pay attention to what [Name] was doing: he had brunette hair paired with turgoise eyes. He wasn't very tall, but he was still a couple inches above [Name]. His body was covered in burned spots and bruises, just like [Name]'s.
The man looked at them with a smile, but [Name] couldn't decide wether he meant it to reassure them that everything will be okay or to thank them for saving him.
The gentle smile turned into an unsettling grin, and that was the moment when [Name] saw the lighter and dragger in his hands.
"Oh fucking hell..." they muttered while taking a step backwards.
The man knocked [Name] over, like a beast hunting down its prey. Their back hit the dirty ground. The man towered towards [Name], then stepped on their chest with his black boots. They gasped for air as their already damaged lungs were taken under pressure.
"I shall left no witnesses behind." the man mumbled as he took the weapon out of its case. [Name]'s eyes widened as they stared at the person stepping on them. They let out a squeek when they tried to ask for help.
The man pushed the dragger into [Name]'s stomach. The knife slit open a small part of their stomach, causing them to slowly bleed away. The man stood up from the half-squat position he was in. He looked into the eyes of [Name], who tried to stop the bleeding with no success, then ran away.
"Kyah-!" they cried out after they pulled the dragger out with a sharp and fast move. Their hands were aching, but they still pushed themselves to their limits.
[Name] threw the blood soaked knife away. They took a deep breath, then ripped a part of their uniform. They crumpled the fabric into a medium sized ball, then squeezed it over the wound. They knew when it absorbed most of the blood by feeling how soggy it got.
Their brain could only slightly work. What to do? And how to do it? They could barely lift a finger. Their eyes shifted around the things they could use. 'The dragger? No, I don't even know what to do with it.'
Their phone buzzed in their back pocket.
[Name] didn't know before that the Candy Crush notification could save a life, but here were they.
They completely forget about their mobile. They tried to fish the device out of their pocket. [Name]'s hand was almost fully covered in blood, making it almost impossible to get the phone out, since it always slipped out of their hands. 'For fuck's sake...!' they gripped the phone firmly once again, and by this time, they could successfully take out their mobile.
The phone was brought up to head level on their side. As they typed in their password, the red liquid was left on the phone in the shapes of fingerprints, making it harder to see what's going on on the screen.
Their hand were already shaking while scrolling through the apps, searching for any that could send messages. They tapped on one of the icons, then typed in the number and message they wanted to send. Calling the 911 would have been more understandable, but something in them restrained them from doing something that would actually make sense.
[Name] tried to be on point, however their body could only write an effortless looking text, but they tried their best.
Their last movements were to touch the little arrow next to the keyboard before completely losing their consciousness.
