[Name] won the war between them and Dazai.

Dazai has been called a lot of things, which is mainly the reason he didn't took the kid's remark seriously... But when [Name] mentioned Odasaku, he knew something was off. 'How could they know about him? It happened years ago, they could only know he died,  if they had met him.... or were in the mafia. Both of the options sound dumb.'

They sat in one of the booths, as Dazai agreed to have a talk with the kid. Both of them had questions and both of them wanted answers.

It was just by pure luck that [Name] remembered the name of that man. Everytime Odasaku's name was brought up, it rang a bell in their head, but they didn't exactly know why. The only thing that was for sure, is that he was close to Dazai and something happened to him. They weren't sure if it has to do something with their current relationship with Dazai, but there was a chance they are right.

"So, first of all, why were you avoiding me?"

The man thought for a moment, finding a good way to phrase his answer.

"Do you know what a singularity is?" Dazai asked, then [Name] shook their head. "A singularity is, when two ability users with the same ability come into contact. Could be physical touch or literally anything. It depends on the type of ability. I have seen this phenomenon happen not just once..." the man's eyes darkened. "...but one of the times it didn't end well."

[Name] debated wether it is appropriate to go further into this topic, but their curiousity won over simpathy.

"What... What happened?"

"The man you mentioned before, Odasaku, could see five or six seconds into the future. It's a long story, but I'll try to keep it short. He met another man with the same ability. Both of them could predict each others moves, making it hard to find the weakness of the other opponent. It got to the point, their abilities created sort of a world different than ours, where they could attack and dodge the other's attack in the future, without actually happening in the present. It slowly resulted into both of them dying..." his voice faded by the last sentence. "Their abilities were the cause of their death."

"I'm sorry... Was he your friend...?"

The man infront of them slightly smiled. The smile wasn't his usual cheerful or teasing smile. This one seemed similar to a sad one, but [Name] couldn't really guess. They never understood these types of people, who smile when they aren't feeling happy.

"Yes... But without his death, I would be a much worse person. He was the reason I left..." he stopped for a moment, then corrected himself. "He was the reason I joined the agency in the first place."

"I see..."

"Sorry, I drifted away from the subject. Even if this phenomenon called singulary occurs at our contact, we won't know what will happen. Nothing? One of our ability is superior to the other? Or something much worse?" the man looked straight into their eyes. "I'm not cautious, because I'm scared that I'll die. I am cautious because I don't want to hurt you. If I was in the same position as I am in right now, but five years earlier, I wouldn't care. But now... I want to be the person Odasaku would be proud of."

Dazai stared at them for a moment, then smiled.

"Now that I think about it, you kinda look like a younger version of me."

This being said, [Name] looked at their hands and the area of the body they could see.

"Because of the bandages?"

"Yeah." Dazai chickled. "And the eye patch too. It is in the exact place where I had. Ah, I was a really troublesome kid."

The kid remained silent, processing everything that was said. 'Why do I have a feeling that his scars were not all mere accidents? Also... This Odasaku dude was probably much more than just a simple friend who died.' Dazai let the kid have some time alone with their thoughts, but after a couple minutes, it was his turn to interrogate.
