Four, six, and a countless more. [Name] gave up on trying to keep track a long time ago.
Lightnings struck constantly to different parts of Yokohama, taking a weirdly long time to hear the thunder, as if Zeus himself wanted to bring punishment and misery to every single person living in this godforsaken place. Like he wanted to set every household on fire, to flood the entire city or to just simply harden every pathetic mortals' lives. He seeked more and more misery, bringing more of his thunder to the face of the earth.
He was probably so full of hatred, he didn't even notice he struck lightnings to the same spot four times, which would have definitely left atleast the tiniest mark on the red brick building. Or the other case, when it happened six times near the port. And let's not even mention the other numerous times when this occured. It would take too long to count everything.
[Name] smiled as they leaned against the car window to get a better view.
They imagined as Zeus recklessly hails the loud lightnings, wishing the sorrow on mortals. All of this pouring rain and thunderstorm might come off as sudden to outsiders. Scary. Frightening, even. Young children burying themselves in their warm blankets and quivering every time the horroristic lightnings strucks, the stray dogs upon the streets seeking any shelter which they could come across and finally, the older ladies hurrying to their garden, grabbing every fabric as they realized they forgot the clothes outside.
It was supposed to be a bad moment of their day for everyone, yet [Name] felt relieved.
"Damn it...!" the driver mumbled as he hit the brakes.
The car stopped moving from one moment to another, which wouldn't have been that much of a problem for anyone, except for Chuuya, who didn't buckle his seatbelt, so he had to hold onto something to not get hit by the front of the vehicle.
"The fuck?" the ginger looked at the person behind the steering wheel, then outside the huge window ahead of him. "A traffic jam?"
"Seems like it." Kouyou commented as she leaned closer to see things better.
[Name] couldn't have care less for something like this on a normal trip. Yes, it indeed was a bit annoying, having to wait in the car until they can finally break out from the chain of vehicles. But this wasn't just a normal trip. Since when was anything normal?
Their legs were jumping up and down, taking up a fast pace in a few moments. This shitty traffic was taking minutes from their time, heck, probably even hours. The kid didn't know how long the queue of cars was. They couldn't see the front.
And in this case, their precious time meant a lot of things to them. Like how much until they can get back to the agency again.
"How long do you think this is gonna take...?" [Name] asked, the driver or Chuuya. It didn't actually matter who, they just needed an answer.
"No idea."
"I don't know."
[Name] checked the time on the screen in the front of the car. Stared out the window, then checked the time again. It seemed like the seconds didn't want to pass. Like the whole world was just stuck in this exact pose for god knows how long, and the kid was the only one left conscious of the situation.
I would be faster on feet, they wondered while fighting the tempting thoughts in their mind.
They really had no other reason to stay. Well, if their speculations regarding the mobile were correct, then there actually wouldn't be.
And as far as they knew, the device was really the key to everything.
Plus now it's destroyed, so...
'Maybe I really would be faster.'
