A chess match. It's just simple as that.
Though, Dostoevsky made up two new rules which were easy to understand, yet at the same time worried [Name].
Rule number one: each time they capture the other's pieces, they get to ask a question. Could be anything. The person who lost a piece has to respond truthfully, and must give straightforward answers. No responding with only a question for the other to guess and no answer left with a single riddle. The kid was still unsure about how much truth will be hidden in the man's probably shady answers, but if they wanted to gain his trust and get out of here alive, they should play within the guidelines.
He'll know if they are lying anyways. The kid didn't wan't to get caught not telling the truth and ending up with a something much worse punishment from the whole terrorist group. Needless to say, they didn't want to lose a limb or an organ.
Rule number two: whoever wins, they get to make a wish the other has to fulfill. Once again, the chosen wish can be anything.
[Name] already knew what they want for their victory. They just wanted to leave this place already, safely. Only if they win though. As for what Dostoevsky might want from them... they had no idea. They were also skeptical whether they can beat the man in this game.
The kid was the one honoured to start.
They first enjoyed the silence in the room, as them and Dostoevsky was left in the room alone, meanwhile Nikolai and Sigma stood outside by the door. Then they took a quick breath, and examined their choices, which were a lot at the time.
[Name] placed one of their pawns to the E4 maze. They looked straight into the eyes of the man, showing no fear or remorse.
"I will not let you win, Dostoevsky."
"Then, give your all, child." he moved his own pawn to step on the field right infront of the kid's piece without breaking the eye contact. "I won't underestimate you, like Takeo Noguchi did. Even though, I won't go easy on you."
"No need to anyways, rat."
Seven turns. In total, it took seven turns to capture the number one piece.
Surprisingly, the very first pawn which has fallen, was Fyodor's. Even the kid was slightly taken aback, as they expected a one-sided match, wich basically consisted of the man taking out their pieces one by one while knowing everything he wanted to.
Without hesitation, they took the black pawn down from the board, then asked their question:
"What did you do to the missing agency members?"
"This little mission was not done by any of us." Fyodor admitted. "The Decay of Angels have nothing to do with them."
[Name] didn't know whether the man was lying or telling the truth, but all they could do at the moment was to believe him.
"Then were..." they cut themselves off as they remembered this would be more than one question. Meaning they'd go against the rules.
Dostoevsky immediately took down the kid's knight - which in the meantime was on F3 - with his bishop in the very next turn.
With this move, [Name] recognized how easily they can make small mistakes, which can be turned against them in the sooner future. Well, that's how life works.
'There we go...'
"How do you know what is going to happen?"
A bit of weird, they commented mentally. Sure, the man could've asked a more specific question, something which can come handy in earning his goal. But even with all of this, they understood the reason behind why he asked this very well.
