Geonosis, 7955 C.R.C
"I'm the better pilot-"
"That's disputable."
"-so why are you flying the ship?" Anakin complained for what felt like the hundredth time. He clearly wasn't used to being seated in the co-pilot seat.
"Uh, because Master Windu put me in charge," Kaia deadpanned, attention focused on the rings of Geonosis. "And more importantly — I called dibs."
Anakin grumbled something under his breath and leaned back. His fingers tapped against the dashboard impatiently as they flew across the rusty red landscape. They'd truly just left one sandy hellhole for another.
She piloted the ship closer to the ground, weaving around towering rock formations. A few times, she purposefully flew a little closer just to annoy Anakin when he voiced his complaints.
"See those columns of steam straight ahead?" Anakin asked, pointing ahead. "They look like exhaust vents of some type."
Understanding what he meant, Kaia piloted the shop straight down into a column. The ship flew through the steam and landed at the bottom. Kaia pushed a few buttons to shut the engines off.
"I'm positively surprised," Anakin stood up, "we didn't crash once."
"I understand you're used to the ship crashing when you fly," Kaia retorted, casting a glance out the windows where steam blocked the view of what surrounded them, "but there are other ways to land."
Dropping her Jedi cloak on the pilot's chair, Kaia then said, "Remember, we want to find a diplomatic solution to this mess Obi-Wan has landed himself in. We are not here to start a war."
"Understood," Anakin rolled his eyes. "And I don't see why you seem to be in charge here."
"I have less of a reputation for being impulsive and reckless," Kaia shrugged.
"But I'm older," Anakin said, actually only guessing now because he'd never asked how old Kaia was — he just guessed it was close to his.
"By one year," Kaia rolled her eyes. "And I'm more experienced — so let's go."
"Wait," Kaia stopped abruptly just as they were about to exit the ship. Unclasping Anakin's lightsaber from her belt, she handed it to him, "you should probably have this — if things go wrong."
That she wanted to find a diplomatic solution to the problem did not mean she was naive to the danger they were walking into.
"You kept it safe," Anakin cracked a smile.
