Kaia stayed with Anakin longer than she'd originally intended. Initially her intention was to wait for him to fall asleep and then sneak out. But it proved to be more difficult than she initially thought since he held on to her for dear life, like he was afraid that she'd disappear too if he let go. Reasoning that it would defeat the purpose of her staying to comfort him if she moved and he woke up, Kaia remained for a few hours before she carefully crawled out of his embrace and returned back to her own quarters for a shower.
She managed to get a few hours of unrestful sleep too before it was time for her to get up and begin her day. Unfortunately, the war didn't stop just because she was mourning the loss of her friend. And being the good Jedi Knight she was, Kaia made a promise to herself to hide her emotions the best she could from now on. No one would benefit from her self-pity and guilt.
Staring down at her bruised and cracked knuckles, Kaia sighed in disappointment over her own actions. She shouldn't have lashed out like that. Letting her anger take control could be a dangerous thing. This time she'd only hurt herself but if she didn't watch herself, she could end up hurting somebody else in the future. And that was the last thing Kaia wanted.
Normally, she wasn't one to wear gloves – that was more an Anakin-thing – but Kaia wanted to avoid any questions concerning the state of her hands; which also happened to be why she avoided going to the medical bay to have them checked and treated. Years of experience made her confident enough to say that nothing was broken, so she could handle some swelling and pain for a few days to avoid having to explain how she sustained her injury.
Kaia barely got two steps out of her room before her name was being called further down the corridor. Turning around, she saw Anakin walking towards her with determined steps. "Master Windu just informed me that one of our sources found the man who killed Obi-Wan," Anakin revealed, his face set in stone.
"Where?" Kaia asked, immediately on alert. A Jedi should not feel anger. A Jedi should just see this man like a common criminal that needed to be brought to justice. A Mandalorian on the other hand wanted vengeance; this proved to be one of those times when Kaia struggled between what she'd been raised as in her different childhoods.
"Some night club down in the lower levels," Anakin said hastily, "I'm going down there now. Are you coming?"
"To arrest him – right?" Kaia asked, not wasting a second to follow Anakin now that he'd picked up his pace again. It did seem a bit strange to her that the Council thought that it was a good idea to send Anakin to arrest the man that killed his master.
