Jedi Temple, Coruscant, 7955 C.R.C
Kaia calmly strolled through the Jedi Temple seemingly without a care in the world. The day had been long and to be honest quite boring — especially those two hours of meditation that she was certain Master Windu simply did it to torture her. Nodding politely to a few Jedi Knights she passed in the corridor, Kaia finally reached her destination.
The doors opened automatically to reveal Anakin Skywalker practising with his lightsaber alone. Noticing her arrival, he turned around, "Nice of you to show up."
"I know, isn't it," Kaia responded. "All of us aren't lucky enough to have our masters out on assignments. And while my master constantly expresses his annoyance concerning my presence in his life, he tends to keep me close."
"I can't imagine having Master Windu as a master," Anakin said, shuddering at the thought. His constant scowl that made Windu look constantly angry made many padawans and younglings a little frightened of him. "
"He can't imagine having you as a padawan," Kaia snorted. "He can be a little — cold at times. But I'm honoured to have him as my master. Windu is one of the best lightsaber duelists ever produced in the order – the Master of the Order – and has taught me a great deal. Not to mention," she lowered her voice into a conspiratorial whisper, "when he fears I'll truly give him a nervous breakdown, he'll just let one of the other masters 'borrow' me. And some of them can't argue because Windu holds a higher rank."
"At least Obi-Wan doesn't dump me on another master when I annoy him," Anakin chuckled, giving her a smug smirk.
"I think that's because none of the other masters want to borrow you," Kaia shot back without a second thought. "Whereas I'm a very sought after substitute padawan. Master Plo Koon and Kit Fisto especially enjoy my wonderful presence." Igniting her lightsaber, she then said, "Soooo, wanna duel?"
Instead of a verbal response, Anakin ignited his lightsaber and lunged forward. "Always so predictable," Kaia muttered, blocking it with ease. Admittedly, Anakin was quite skilled at Djem So while Kaia took this opportunity, since her opponent favoured a more aggressive tactic, to practise her Soresu form.
After a minute of fighting, Anakin swung towards her head, prompting Kaia to drop down, bracing herself with one hand on the ground. Before he could use the high ground he gained over her, Kaia kicked harshly against his legs, knocking him off balance. "Your thoughts," Kaia said as he stumbled backwards, "are elsewhere." It was noticeable in his movements that his attention was divided between the duel and something else entirely.
