Jedi Temple, Coruscant, 7957 C.R.C
It started with Kaia waking up one morning with the image of two golden eyes imprinted in her mind. Being a Jedi, Kaia was burdened with the knowledge that her dreams usually had a deeper meaning – but since she'd been on her way into an active war zone when it happened, she had no other choice than to try to ignore the bad feeling those yellow eyes gave her.
On her way back to Coruscant, Kaia had another dream. Or vision...
First she saw Qui-Gon Jinn battling against a Dathomir male with red skin and black tattoos. The Jedi Master was holding his own against the Sith who wielded a double-bladed lightsaber and at first it actually looked like he would win. But then the Sith's red lightsaber pierced through Qui-Gon's chest and Obi-Wan's agonised scream echoed in her head.
Rather than waking up, the scenery changed and Kaia saw Savage Opress, the Dathomiri male they had encountered a while back on Toydaria. She saw him speak to Mother Talzin and then she saw him speaking to a snake-like creature on what looked like a junkyard, followed by a creature with spider legs hiding in the shadows.
Lastly, before she woke up, Kaia saw the red-and-black Dathomiri male lying on a table surrounded by a green mist with his eyes closed. As the mist slowly disappeared, his yellow eyes opened and a single name echoed through her mind, "Kenobi..."
Kaia hadn't slept a wink since. Darth Maul had returned, and was clearly about to seek revenge against Obi-Wan for defeating him all those years ago on Naboo, yet Kaia couldn't help but think there was another reason she'd gotten these visions. Not merely to warn Obi-Wan but as a warning to her...
Upon reaching the Jedi Temple, Kaia immediately sought out the one person who could make more sense of these visions than herself. Too caught up in her own thoughts, she managed to ram straight into Master Windu on her way to the meditation chamber that council members usually used for privacy.
"Kaia?" Windu frowned, seeing her distant expression. He'd known she was set to return today after securing another victory for the Republic, so he didn't understand why she looked so serious.
"Sorry, Master," Kaia apologised, shaking her head as if to knock herself out of her daze. "I need to speak with Master Yoda. Is he here?"
"He is meditating," Windu explained, frowning at her. "What is it?"
"I," Kaia sighed, "I have to talk Master Yoda first," she said, not giving Windu an opportunity to stop her as she walked away. It wasn't that she didn't trust her former Master. In fact, he was amongst those she trusted the most. But when it came to visions and the mysteries of the Force, Yoda was the one to go to.
