Despite the great ambiance the place has, every person has their own businesses and worlds. But, the busyness cannot hide the fact that they were all waiting for someone—someone who can easily put the Groom from being happy to sour.
"What's taking him so long? He didn't just say 'yes' for a good impression, right?" One of the guests, Teo's one of my many friends, said.
"He will come, we just have to wait." Another friend said.
"Why the fuck I'm feeling some chills?" Hope hissed as he rubbed his shoulders. "Dang, did he dig up my grave already?"
Everyone frowned and almost asked in unison. "Why?"
"I came to his house yesterday, with Marasigan."
"You die, Ruiz."
"Ako nang bahala sa lapida mo."
"Flowers will be on me, don't worry it's free."
"I'll ask my Mom to deliver us beans for coffee."
"Ako na sa tinapay at dragon seeds."
"Does cards still a 'must' in funerals? Marami pa sa bahay."
"Let's get your measurements for your coffin later. Your deathbed will be on me, it's free."
"My presence is enough."
"I'll be on my way to a Conference abroad tomorrow but don't fret I'll still attend your funeral via zoom."
"Baka sa huling lamay na lang ako pumunta, ayaw kong mapuyat."
Hope gave all his friends a deadpan look. Hindi niya alam kung paano niya ba naging kaibigan ang mga walanghiyang 'to, but one thing's for sure if Teo killed him today these fuckers will surely kept their words.
"Yow! He's still not here?" It was Heart who called their attention. "He didn't back off, right?"
Hope chuckled, "Back off? After calling him 'Uncle' yesterday I don't think he'll back off."
"You called him what?!" Everyone exclaimed in shock.
"You die, Marasigan!"
"Good luck, bro. I will attend your funeral, don't worry."
"I wished you would die peacefully—but that's not going to happen. Good luck, kiddo."
"Why not call all your relatives and say your goodbyes now?"
"Repent all your sin, fucker. That Teodomero will surely send you to hell."
"Your soul will be tortured. Good luck! Fighting!"
Heart's face contorted into a frown.
"Is he that scary to be pissed off?" He asked.
Everyone laughed and sent their good luck to him, then a man leaned over to whisper.
"You never fucked with people's age, man."
"But, I'm just telling the truth." Heart said with a pout. "He looks like someone in a movie, the one who always kidnaps kids for some ransom. He's so big, I almost mistook him for a tree trunk."
"You really want to die?" Hope asked Heart in thick sarcasm. "I'm warning you not to mess with his age again, Marasigan. Even if he killed you in front of us, we will never help you."
Heart's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Hey! That's foul! I'm also your friend, help me!" He retaliated.
Hope gave Heart a deadpan look then pointed at himself.
