The thought of Kristel getting married to another man was already a misery he couldn't alleviate. The bitterness that was burning inside him was sending smoke to his rationality that was slowly turning into ashes of impulsive thoughts. It was never his option to accept that goddamn invitation but because he got provoked, Teodomero was now tasting his own medicine.
The bachelor's party takes place at one of the Marasigan's private island but Teodomero was not impressed.
He was hardly convincing himself to like the place when his eyes automatically sought for Kristel.
"Excuse me?" Tumikwas ang kilay ng dalaga. "Naka-short ho ako. Alangan namang magsuot ako ng long pants at long sleeve sa beach? Hindi naman ako baduy manamit katulad mo."
An invisible lightning struck him in his place. There was no tune of sarcasm and insult from the woman's voice but Teodomero felt insulted. Ano namang problema sa suot niya? He was wearing his usual fashion. A ragged maong pants and a 3/4 sleeve polo. He was about to rebut when an annoying man came.
"What's wrong, baby?" Tiningnan siya ng binata. "Did something happen?"
Kristel smiled sweetly at the annoying man as if he did not exist. She even intertwined their hands in front of him. The audacity!
"It's nothing important. Shall we go and check our cabin?"
The wind stopped blowing. The small amount of ego he was wearing was ripped and torn into pieces. He could hear the laughter of the sirens and it was deafening.
Maybe she did not really mean it. Maybe she just said it, so they could stay out of trouble. Or maybe he just misheard it. Teodomero nodded at his own thoughts. That's right, Teodomero. Stay positive.
Staying positive and listening to his inner guardian angel was the best option for him—but not for the devils who were hiding in a human body he called 'friends'.
"Ay, ginanon-ganon ka lang? Kung ako sa'yo, gaganti ako." Usal ni Gabrien.
"Payag ka do'n?
"A salt for the wound.
These devils should thank the people around them, masyadong maraming tao para ibalik niya sa impyerno ang kaibigan niyang mga demonyo.
His face was unpainted. Attending Kristel's wedding with another man was the least and worst thing he could ever wish for yet he was dragged by those devils he called 'friends' to attend this so-called bachelor's party.
