Searching for Harry in the hallways, I found him with Professor McGonagall and another burly student who was not in the same year but was also a Gryffindor like us. I stepped back a bit before approaching and listened.
"I found you a seeker," Professor McGonagall said with pride on her face. "He is not in trouble?" I finally stepped in. "A seeker, so he is not in trouble?" They all turned to me. "Why no! He is the new Gryffindor seeker." I didn't know what that was, but at least it put me at ease to know he was alright before I even asked anything.
Professor McGonagall interrupted, "Ah yes! Professor Dumbledore wishes to see you, Y/N. He wants to have a word with you." I raised my eyebrows in surprise as to why he wants to talk to me. "Oh...could you please show me the way, Professor?" She nodded.

I am in front of Professor Dumbledore's entrance. It is a circular moving stone staircase concealed by a gargoyle on the third floor and revealed upon delivery of a password that Professor McGonagall has covered.I had been summoned by the great headmaster himself, and I couldn't help but wonder , I went up the staircase and into his office. It was a large circular room full of rare and unusual magical artifacts. Portraits of previous headmasters and mistresses on the walls watched over Dumbledore's work, along with his companion, a phoenix, next to his desk, which caught my eye first because I've never seen one other than myself. I can already feel the spirit of the phoenix.
I've read books about it but never seen one up close. "You're a beautiful one," I whispered, my eyes going wide and feeling dazed by its beauty.
"Stunning one, isn't he?" an old voice spoke behind me, startling me easily even with how calmly they spoke.
"Professor Dumbledore! My apologies for coming in without your permission," I said. "Now, now, my dear, no need to worry," he reassured.
"Professor McGonagall told me that you wished to see me," I say in the calmest and most collected voice.
"I have called you in, my dear, because I wanted to check on your progress in your first lesson with Professor McGonagall," Professor Dumbledore said kindly
"She teaches very well, but it was me who keeps losing slight focus. If it wasn't for my emotions... I've never been taught how to use my abilities, since I was raised by my guardian who isn't an animal shapeshifter."
I bit my lip, suddenly feeling overwhelmed with emotions. I am the only person I know in the Luminhood family. It gets lonely sometimes, even when Lee is around. These emotions right now come up like a wave all of a sudden. I can see my eyes start to water, but I hold back as much as possible. It would be embarrassing in front of the professor. I raise my head, holding back my tears, and explain myself.
"I am the only one left from the Luminhood family. My parents passed away when I was just one year old. I never knew what happened to them, not even my guardian knows. She's been taking care of me all those years and I am unaware of my emotions right now because I do not speak often about it, and now I do, I..." The professor comes in to comfort.
Professor Dumbledore's expression softened, and he reached out to pat my hand gently. "I understand, but you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light. I tell my fellow studends from time to time."
I wipe a tear from the corner of my eye before it even slides down my cheek.
"We all have our ways to mourn about a loved one's death. Never be ashamed of your emotions, y/n. One day, it'll come when you especially need them, not only from yourself but from others."
I finally look at the professor in the eye. "What if I end up alone, then what?"
the words come out of my mouth without thinking.
"You won't be, my dear. There will be someone in your life who will make you feel valued and especially not alone. This is your first year in Hogwarts. It is the start, not the end, y/n."
He starts to walk off and goes up on one side of the stairs. I follow him. "You still have Harry and your other friends, your guardian, and the creatures you've bonded with." He stops and looks out from his window and finishes, "You have a rare ability that no other in this wizardly world has. You have a lot ahead of you. Thinking of what comes next before living the moment you have now is not living at all." He turns to me and gives me a warm smile that I haven't had since I got here. It gives me reassurance and pleasure.
I take a deep breath.
"You are right, professor... I was being emotional, that's all. It's all new to me to be outside the shell I was in, but I will try my best. There are so many extraordinary things I haven't done or seen. Once I know how to spread my wings and follow my spirit's instinct, I will know what to do." I smile dearly.
"You are so much like your mother. You have so much spirit and mind and are so emotional yet so irrational. Altruistic and caring like your father was." He finally says something that really draws my attention."You knew my parents?" I ask.
"I know everyone. Your grandfather and I were close friends. What a pure soul he was. He'd be proud. "Your family has always played great crucial roles in shaping the wizarding world and have left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.'" He smiles softly and turns back to the window, and I do too. It is nice to know something about my family's life in the past.
I have so much ahead of me. I shouldn't let anything stop me and the people I care about. I want to be better, I want to be proud of my parents, do better in my studies. From now on, I'll make an effort to improve myself. I vow that.
