ISAAK
I returned to a sleeping blonde who made herself comfortable on my sofa.
I sighed as Luciano followed from behind and stopped in his tracks at the sight. Before he could make up assumptions and start teasing me, I spoke. "Where's her friends?"
Luciano glanced at me. "I'm not sure but I got the one's number," I looked at him.
"Not like that. One of them had an issue with Micah," I took in his words and decided not to ask questions. "Call them. The last thing I need is more angry women in my life,"
I sighed, my eyes not leaving the blonde. She was peaceful and serene, her long lashes fluttering against her cheeks as she slept. Her breathing was slow and steady, and I found myself lost in the moment, mesmerized by her. I had never seen her so calm and quiet, and I was captivated by the sight.
Luciano reached for his phone, tapping a few buttons.
A few seconds later, I heard a voice on the other end. "Hello?" the woman said. Luciano explained the situation, and the woman agreed to come get her friend. A few minutes later, the two girls appeared in the doorway, their eyes wide with shock.
"Is she okay?" the brunette asked, rushing to her friend's side. I nodded, as the other friend started picking up her things. I helped them as I carried Diane, bridal style, and headed outside.
As we stepped outside, the two girls exchanged a look of realization. "Uh-oh," The one said. "We didn't drive here. We took an Uber."
"And my phone is dead," The other added, glancing down at her phone. "So I can't call for another one."
"Don't worry," Luciano said. "Isaak will make sure you both get home safely."
"Are you sure?" The brunette asked, a worried look on her face. "It's kind of far from here."
"Oh trust me, he doesn't mind," I glared at my brother.
I unlocked my Maserati, opened the back door, and gently placed Diane inside.
"Thank you so much," the brunette said, as she got into the car, sitting next to the blonde. I nodded, closing the door. I turned to Luciano, who was watching me intently. Suddenly, Diane sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. "What happened?" The brunette sat down next to her, putting a comforting arm around her shoulder. "You passed out," she said softly. The blonde opened her eyes, looking at me. "Isaak?"
I looked over to Diane. "Shh, rest. You're going home now,"
"You're coming with us?"
"If that's not a problem, "
"I'd like that, Mr. Grinch." She giggled. "Two times in a row, wow! You are my knight and shining armor,"
Diane's words hung in the air, and I could feel Luciano's eyes on me, a mischievous glint in his gaze. I knew he wanted me to say something in response, but I decided to keep my mouth shut.
The drive was long and loud because Diane couldn't find it in herself to keep her mouth shut. I just heard two words coming out of her mouth like a broken record.
Coco snacks.
"Diane, we can't get you those right now. We'll get you some at home okay,"
"But I want them now,"
I sighed, my head spinning as I made my way over to the nearest garage. I pulled over, without saying a word to the girls. "Isaak," Diane called out and I looked at her expectantly. "I'm coming with you," I sighed, not wanting to fight the short blonde.
I Madd me into the store quickly and she hopped behind me- literally.
What had I gotten myself into? I thought.
My eyes schemed around for an employee that worked here and I found a man dressed in all black with the logo of the store printed on his shirt. "Excuse me?"
"Do you know where I can get coco snacks?" The employee looked at me in confusion, clearly not expecting such an odd request. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, "Are you looking for Cocoa Puffs?"
"No, it's a specific brand," I explained, trying to be patient."Coco Snacks," The employee's brow furrowed, trying to recall if he had seen such a product before. "I'm not sure if we carry that," he said, looking apologetic. "We do have a variety of graham crackers though."
"Do you mind checking the back room or something?" I grew aggravated. The employee hesitated, then nodded." I'll see what I can do," he said and headed towards the back room.
I stood there, hoping he would find what I was looking for. "How's your hand?"
"Fine," I uttered, completely forgotten that, that even happened. "I've always liked helping people you know?" I nodded, hoping she'd take the hint but unfortunately for me, she hadn't.
"I didn't like the fact that someone would just sit there idle while somebody else was in desperate need of something they couldn't get themselves. Like why do something like that when you have two hands you know? It doesn't kill you. I wanted to be a nurse from a very young age and I'm working on making that my reality,"
"You talk like I asked for your life story,"
She sighed in defeat. "Is this how you speak to everybody or do you hate me that much?"
"Trust me, Diane, I don't hate you," I said honestly. After what felt like an eternity, the guy returned, with the item. "There you have it, sir,"
"Thank you," I took the packets and paid the cashier.
The cool air welcomed us as we made our way back to the car. I took out my knife and cut the coco snacks packet open for her. She watched in awe like what I did fascinated her. "There you go,"
"Thank you," She muttered like some child and I nearly chuckled. "Have some," She said, grabbing one from the packet. "No thanks,"
"I promise I'll stop talking if you do,"
Well if that's the case-
I took a bite, my eyes never leaving hers as the chocolate melted in my mouth.
There was a flicker of disappointment in her expression, but she quickly looked away, her jaw set. She made her way to the car without another word, sliding into the passenger seat and buckling her seatbelt.
