Jaida:
I never thought I'd be missing an airport so much and I had only been gone six days. After I got my luggage I began looking around for a familar blonde headed lady and her brown haired mysterious husband. No doubt about it I was glad to be back. I'm just happy to get out of that tension filled environment, my father refused to look me in my eyes and mother, she didn't even acknowledge my presence, it was for the best that I left. I ended up spending christmas night and the days up to my flight at Genny's. I finally told her parents what happened and it made me cry how they were so understanding and offered to help if I needed it. I wished my parents were like that but it seems everyone that I wished was supportive is against Bella and I. Even random people I don't know judge me. I can't even walk down the street from my apartment without the looks of judgement, I usually don't take it on because I'm strong. I have to be strong from my daughter.
"Jaida!!!!" Immediately I'm embraced in a motherly hug and Maggie's scent surrounded me.
"Hey Mags, hey Earl," I say with a sigh.
"Are you alright? Michelle told us that you were coming home early," Maggie asked with concern in her voice.
"I told my parents about Bella and they didn't take it well so I'm back and here to stay this time," I said flatly.
"Oh honey, that's just terrible, we'll talk later. Let's get out of this cold air, I'm sure you'd love to see your daughter."
"I would want nothing more than to just hold her and never let her go. How was your christmas?" I asked.
"Oh it was wonderful!!! Derek came home!!!!" Maggie exclaimed excitedly.
I smiled, he actually did it, I was proud of him. I'm surprised he hadn't called but I guess I'd see him around soon enough. Before following Maggie to the car, Earl pulled me aside and hugged me tightly, "Your parents are missing out on something wonderful."
"Thanks Earl and yea I know they are," I said sadly.
"One more thing....He's gone."
I think my heart just skipped a beat at his words, "What do you mean?" I whispered.
"Derek, he left this morning."
"Why? Where is he going? He just came back!"
"I honestly don't know why or where, he promised to come back soon, maybe you should call him."
I just nodded, I couldn't believe it, we talked, the day after I landed, he said he wanted to go out, what change his mind. Did I make him leave? Maybe it's because I come with baggage and a sob story. But he met Bella, he held her, he was fine with her! Earl said he would have been back but who knows when that'll be. I just can't wrap my head around this, I don't understand what happened, maybe I should call but then again he probably won't answer if he never told me he was leaving. I mean he's not obligated to do it, there is nothing going on between us but there was something there. Well not anymore I guess.
I vaguely heard Maggie telling me how Ronnie and Michelle had Bella back at the apartment and that Ronnie took her to Samantha's grave christmas morning with fresh flowers but that all just seemed unimportant, as bad as it sounds, to the fact that this guy just walked out of my life without giving anything a chance and the sad thing is he left quite the impression from that one day. Come on Jaida! Snap out of it! You've got a kid to see about, you've got to get over this...this...this jackass! How dare he!?!
Walking into Maggie and Earl's apartment I was tackled into a hug from Ronnie,
"I missed you too Ron, but I need to breathe," I said in a strangled voice.
