Jaida: *present time*
"Jai!!!!!!!!!"
I shot off my bed falling to the ground in the process, "Damn it Sammy!!!!" I pushed off the ground and ran to the living room.
"What's wrong?" I asked slightly breathless.
"Can you make me some tea?" Samantha asked me giving me her begging eyes and pouting.
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose, feeling another upcoming headache. I was exhausted, I had worked a late shift at the diner and I had exams coming up so I stayed up when I got in from work to study. It was Saturday and I had hoped to sleep late until my shift in the afternoon, of course when your best friend and roommate was eight months and two weeks pregnant, plans to sleep late tended to fall through.
That's right, after I found her on the bench, Samantha Fletcher became a good friend and after some great convincing from Maggie and I, my roommate. To this day I still couldn't believe her story; her husband of three years died in a car accident three months ago and her in-laws took everything from her and proceeded to throw her out the house, I didn't understand how some people could have been so heartless as she was already six months pregnant and had nowhere to go. Her own parents had already passed away and she was an only child so she really was on her own.
Over the three months, I helped her get back on her feet and helped her deal with her grieving and she had been doing well so far. She had that pregnant glow to her that just added to her stunning features, she had long naturally blonde hair just under her shoulder and these huge, hypnotic emerald green eyes. I've told her on several occasions that her kid better inherit those eyes because they really are Sam's best features.
"Sam...as much as I appreciate you letting me help you, I'd appreciate it even more if you let me sleep late sometimes, seriously did you need to wake me for tea right now?"
"Nooo but the baby can come at any time I just wanted to spend more time with you before all our time is absorbed by her."
Maybe if I hadn't only gotten two hours of sleep and it wasn't currently six in the morning I would have been more lenient to her but I just gave her a flat look,
"You do realize you are raising your daughter here until you can get a job and I do live here as well" I asked her while heading towards the kitchen to put water on for tea,
"Yes but, I'll be busy with the baby and you'll be busy with school, we'll hardly have time for just the two of us,"
I scrunched up my face at her words, "And it made sense to wake me up when no stores are open and the park is deserted?"
I got no response to that and I poked my head around the corner just to make sure she was ok, she had this doe eyed expression on her face and I snorted at that, of course she didn't think about that.
"Did you think of a name yet?" I asked her, changing the topic and heading back into the kitchen to get her tea ready.
She came waddling a few minutes after and I bit down on my bottom lip to prevent myself from laughing and quickly bent my head when I saw her scowl, she huffed when she sat down on the stool and looked at me,
"I was thinking Isabella Marie?" she answered smiling softly at me, I stared at her shocked and completely speechless.
"You sure?"
She nodded sternly, "Positive, especially the middle name," she said with a wink.
Isabella was her mother's name so that part was understood but I definitely wasn't expecting her to use my middle name. I was touched that she considered it. Just as I had been there for Samantha she had been there for me as well. She became a mother/sister figure to me and everyday I was grateful for taking her in. Samantha knew my life back at home wasn't easy, how my mother tried to mold me into her perfect child, disregarding my own needs and dreams to focus on her own to force upon me. To say my mother wasn't pleased when I left, was the understatement of the year but Samantha gave me the advice I needed to hear, she makes the rift between my mother and I a lot easier to handle.
She reminded me of my best friend back at home, the two of them were so alike it was uncanny. On the many occasions we all talked, the two of them would occasionally gang up on me. Genny attended the local university but she promised as soon as she graduates she would come to live with me. I would love nothing better than to have my two best friends with me. Samantha fully supports our plan, she's been dying to meet Genny since I had them first talk.
"What do want to do later Sam?"
she got that thoughtful expression on her face, "We could finish the baby room?"
I couldn't help but get excited, I loved helping Samantha with the baby and I couldn't wait for the day she was born.
