Chapter 16: Missing

It was around midnight and Kion suddenly awoke in his den to the sound of thunder in the night sky. It was a cold night and Kion felt thirsty so he went to the watering hole for a drink.

On his way however, he heard some strange noises coming from behind him, but when he turned around, nothing was to be seen.

Kion arrived at the watering hole and lapped some water down his parched throat.

However, on the way back, he had a feeling he was being watched. Kion saw something for a split second but then it was gone.

He continued to walk on until something came right in front of him, stopping him in his tracks.

Kion: Scar?!!!!

Scar: Well hello Kion! Fancy seeing you here!

Kion growled and backed away from Scar. He got down into a fighting stance and barred his teeth.

Kion: What do you want Scar?!!

Scar: Hmmm that's a tough question; let me think? Oh yes I remember now!  I want the Tree of Life and revenge on you and the Lion Guard!

Kion: That is never going to happen Scar!

Scar chuckled evilly and took a step forward to Kion, who was standing his ground but just barely.

Scar: Oh really! Without their fierce leader to lead them?!

Kion looked at him confused.

Kion: What?!! You'll never defeat me Scar.

Scar: Sure I won't, that's why I brought some assistance.

Two lions emerged from the bushes behind Kion, Cheka and Uovu.

Kion was surrounded.

Kion: How-How did you get in here without the Night Pride noticing?!!

Scar: It's amazing what these new powers can do ya know? In addition to the fact that our fur is as dark as night making it very easy to sneak past that owl at the pass.

Kion: Bring it on Scar! I can take you! You will never beat me!

Scar: Oh really?

Scar quickly sprayed sand and dirt in Kion's eyes, making Kion grunt in annoyance. Scar then struck Kion right to the chest, making him tumble backwards right into Cheka and Uovu. Kion was dazed and injured. He couldn't even fight back.

Scar approached him, laughing maniacally.

Scar: How pathetic Kion! You are better than that; or are you? Hahahaha! Say good night!

Scar then punched Kion's chest and then commanded Cheka and Uovu to drag him out of the mountain pass.

"in a secret place so no one can find him." were the last words Kion heard before blacking out.

Next morning, the Night Pride was tired as they came back from their night patrol. The Lion Guard was confused on why they were so exhausted.

Bunga: Hello Night Pride!

Beshte: Good morning!

Fuli: How was the patrol?

Rani eventually started talking again.

Rani: There were many injured animals in different regions of the tree and they needed assistance and healing. So we spent all night helping them.

Fuli: It must've been Scar's doing!

Rani: You sure?

Fuli: Yes! He must've sent his minions to ambush some unsuspecting animals during the night all over the territory to distract you guys from something.

Bunga: Distract them from what?

Fuli: Doesn't matter, nothing probably happened.

Nirmala then realized that Kion wasn't with them and was worried.

Nirmala: Have you guys seen Kion? He needs to do his healing session today.

Beshte: When we went to Kion's den, he wasn't there. He was missing.

Everyone suddenly went pale.

Rani: What happened to him?!

Fuli: We don't know!

Rani: Anga, can you go take a look around the Tree of Life's territory and see if you can spot Kion?

Anga: Yep.

Anga soared into the sky and looked around the territory. She first checked the grasslands and forest, nothing. Then the deserts and tundra, nothing. Mountains; nothing.

Anga: Sorry everyone I couldn't spot him. Something dreadful must've happened to him.

Ono thought for a moment and muttered to himself, "Nawaza, Nawaza. Hapana!"

Ono: Everyone! I discovered the truth!

Rani: What is it Ono?

Ono: If all those ambushes throughout the night were set up by Scar himself, then that distracts you from your patrol. If you're distracted, then he must be going after one thing and one thing indeed. And if Kion's missing, then there can only be one solution!

Everyone's faces went pale.

Ono: Kion's been kidnapped by Scar!
