Chapter 47: The room

Cassie's pov

I wake on the floor, surrounded by a bright light. It was too bright, I tried closing my eyes, but it wasn't working. I get up off the floor and start walking towards the light, when I reach out to touch it the room changed.

I was suddenly in Scotts room, the light was still bright, yet outside instead. I look around the room and I see Scott lying down on the bed.

"Scott?" I asked, walking closer to him.

His eyes widen and he sits up quick startling me. "Cassie?" Scott asks, standing up from the bed and walking towards me. He gives me a tight hug, scared that I was going to disappear. "I thought I would never see you again."

"What are you talking about Scott? Of course, you were going to see me again." I said, guiding him to the bed, so we were sitting side by side.

"I thought I wasn't Cass. Your humanity was off, I thought you weren't coming back." Scott says, holding my hand to ground himself. 

"Scott, I could never leave you. I just needed to figure out some things before coming back. Scott, I did horrible things, somethings I can never forgive myself for. I never mean to hurt you." I said, starting to cry. Thinking about everything with Klaus made me realize how much I messed up. Klaus never was the one for me, it was always Scott and it's always going to be Scott.

"Wait, what are you even doing here? Where even are we?" Scott asks, getting up to examine the room.

"I thought you could tell me that. What's the last thing that you remember?" I ask, standing up with Scott. 

He turns to me, and walks closer, "I remember missing you and getting sick. I threw up at school and then nothing. What about you?" he asks. 

"I remember being at home, feeling sick. It was out of know where." I said, looking around the room. I see the door and go to walk to it. 

"Wait, be careful Cass." Scott says, walking closer to me. 

"Relax Scott." I said, I reach for the door handle but when I touch the knob it burned me. "Ow!" I yell, retracting my hand. "We can't leave." 

"Here let me try." Scott says, going for the door handle but getting the same response. "Alright yeah, we can't leave." 

"Why are we even here?" I ask, but quickly turn to Scott, "Wait, could it be because were mates? I mean we both got sick, right? Maybe this has something to do with the bond. Like being apart hurt the bond. I mean you said you were missing me and then you got sick." 

"Yeah, that make sense. How do we leave this place though?" Scott asks, going to look around the room.

"I have no idea." I said, going to sit on the bed. "I'm sure were fine though." 

"How can you be so sure?" Scott asks, coming to sit next to me. 

"We've got the best people looking out for us, I'm sure they'll think of something." I said, taking his hand to reassure him that we would be fine.

"Your right. So, tell me Cassie. What exactly happened in Mystic Falls?" Scott asks.

"A lot, I told you everything with Esther. Were apparently she had a backup plan." I said. "She turned Alaric into an upgraded original vampire, with the mindset of a hunter." 

"Alaric was the history teacher who took you in, the vampire hunter?" Scott asks. 

"Yeah, but he never attacked any vampire he wasn't on the same side with like Stefan and I. Damon and Alaric have, "I said, cutting myself off at the reminder of Ric being gone. "They had a weird relationship." 

"Alright, continue." He said, gently squeezing my hand. He must have picked up on my emotions in the last sentence.

"Anyway, Ric was in transition, but he wasn't going to complete it. So, I came back to Beacon Hills, but then he completed the transition and became ruthless. Elijah came and kidnapped me bringing me back to Mystic Falls. It's why I wasn't at the celebration. I was going to be plan B for him. Thankfully I wasn't and he let me go." I look over at Scott to see if he was keeping up, he gave me a nod to keep going. 

"Alaric was going after the original vampires, but the thing is, was that when an original died everyone in their blood ever turned died as well. So, if all originals died all vampires would die. We didn't know which original was our bloodline, but we were pretty sure it was Klaus. Which was the exact person Alaric wanted to kill in that moment." I said. 

"Wait, Klaus? As in the original hybrid?" Scott asks. 

"Yeah, Klaus." I said, "So we knocked Klaus out and hid him. Unfortunately, Alaric found him and tried to kill him. Thankfully that failed and he didn't die, so none of my friends did. The bad thing is, Esther didn't want Alaric to be immortal, so she linked his life to a human one."

"When Alaric went to Kill Rebekah, she ran away and escaped so he came back upset and tried to kill Damon, Jason, and I. Thing is, Alaric still remembered me and didn't want to hurt me so he snaped my neck to just knock me out basically. When I woke up Jason and Alaric were dead. The two people closes to me, were dead. I couldn't deal with it. So, I turned it off." I said, as tears escaped my eyes.

"Wait but Alaric's life was link to a human?" Scott asks. 

"Rebekah got angry after Ric killed Klaus so she killed Elena. Elena was the human's life Ric was link to. So, when she died Alaric died."

Scott nods his head to show that he was following along. "Things only got worse from there Scott. Alaric outed all of us to the council which are made of vampire hunters. So, they hunted us down and kept us in a farmhouse to be killed later." 

"You were kidnapped?" Scott asks, getting scared. 

"Yeah, but it was for a while, and I was out of there quickly. Either way, being there and thinking about never seeing my family again got me to turn my humanity on. So, it was short-lived." I said. 

"Cass, are you ok?" Scott asks. 

"I don't know. I don't really think I'll be ok for a while. After everything I still need to think about the things. Also, there's another vampire hunter out right now in Mystic falls." I said. 

"So, you're going to be over there for a while?" Scott asks, getting a little hurt. 

"I might have to." I said, getting sad. 

Just then the entire room started to shake out of control, I grab onto Scott to make sure that he's ok.  He grabs onto me, just as tight. 

"We've got to get out of here." I spoke. 

"But when we do, you're just going to have to leave again." Scott says, getting sad. 

"Scott, I don't have a choice, there is a vampire hunter going around right now. I promise I will be back when something bad happens." I said, "I'll always come back to you Scott, I'd never leave you." 

"You promise?" Scott asked, with hope in his eyes.

"Of course I do." I say, holding out my pinkie, "I pinkie promise.".

Scott extends his hand and wraps his pinkie around mine. "Good, because I don't know what I'd do if I lost you."

I chuckle and move closer to him, bringing him into a hug. Just then the room gets bright, and I feel myself lose conscious once again.
