Chapter: Princess Sage Returns
Princess Sage Ashton wandered the unusually Quiet halls of Kingdom II's Research and Sciences department donned in the tell tale Kingdom II Royal Family's red hooded cloak. The department felt unfamiliar without the usual bustle and frantic chatter of color coded lab coated scientists and their apprentices. She made her way to the lab normally filled with apprentice and assistant student entrants only to find it void of all but one familiar face.
"Serafin?" Princess Sage blinked at her sister who looked up from the stack of papers in front of her.
"Sage," She greeted with a smile, "When did you get back?" She felt bad the Royal Council meeting she and Kitealla had caused was bringing her home from a beloved foraging trip so soon.
"Just now, actually. We were already on our way home when I got the order for the meeting," Princess Sage sighed, "My accompanying Guards and Hunters were already quite exhausted from all the Beast attacks." Princess Serafin's brow furrowed.
"More than usual?" Sage nodded.
"I feel something strange is going on. The Beasts are changing. I will show you my notes later." Princess Sage shook her head, pushing the subject aside, though the warrior training in Princess Serafin wanted nothing more than to further it. "What is happening here?" Princess Sage looked around the room for a moment before looking at her sister expectantly, whose eyes darted around the room nervously.
"Where is everyone?" Princess Sage pushed playfully, "what did you do?"
"Well, uh," Princess Serafin began hesitantly, "There was an incident." She drew out her last words.
"What do you mean? Tell me?" Princess Sage bounced excitedly.
"One of the scientists unlawfully tested on both an approved and an unapproved subject after hours. She and her assistant were caught by the Keeper, although successful. "
"Were you the assistant? You were, weren't you?" Princess Sage nearly yelled with excitement.
"Anyway," Princess Serafin shushed her sister and continued, "The department has been all but shut down as a result until the Royal Council meeting with the scientist, department head, and keeper over the incident."
"So what was the experiment? Who was the scientist? It must be a pretty big deal to shut down the department and summon all the Kingdom chairs!" Princess Serafin flinched at the questions and quickly cleared her throat,
"So why are you here, Sage?"
"I made some orbs while we were camping last night. I," she gave a small smile, "I have been meeting someone in the gardens at night, she told me she is a scientist here and was doing some work with Mystico Orbs. I thought she would like some." Princess Sage looked down, her face warming.
"Do you know who they were?" Princess Serafin questioned with a small smirk.
"No, we didn't talk about that part."
"Your names?" Serafin laughed aloud.
"I should be going." Princess Sage straightened and cleared her throat, "Have fun with your punishment, Apprentice Ashton."
