Chapter: Math saves ten from a spider beast

Ten breathed and pulled herself to her feet, her eyes quickly adjusting to the dim light.

"I didn't know there was a part this dark in the forest." she thought to herself as she pulled out her map, "obscuro." she mumbled aloud, "hmph, i guess I wandered a bit far. Again." she placed a hand on her hip and took a step up into the air looking around for her satchel. She had been exercising her ability and roaming in the forests a few feet in the air when the loud Beast roar caused her to fall.

"Huh?" ten winced and pulled her hand back quickly as it slid across something uncomfortably sticky, "is this spider silk?" her eyes widened in realization and the constant lessons from sage. She used her free hand to quickly summon her sword and cut herself free. She whipped around running directly into something solid and furry, "oh no." she whimpered, backing away slowly and looking up.

"Eew, eew, eww!" she squealed in frustration at the eight legged friend in front of her, "you couldn't have been any other beast?"

"Ten?" she recognized her friends yell from somewhere in the woods.

"Matheus!" she called back, slicing her sword against a large section of the beast's many eyes causing it to rear back and screech in pain. Ten squeamishly jumped at the beast, both hands holding the sword above her. She cried out as the spider swung its beefy leg at her and sent her flying into its web and leaving her gasping for air.

"eew!" ten struggled to free herself, " not fair!" she yelled angrily at the beast. She could still feel the intense throb in her gut from the spider's hit. Ten tried to adjust her sword in a position to cut herself free, accomplishing only a loud curse as she watched it tumble to the ground.

"A real fight? Finally!" Matheus jumped on the beast's back plunging his sword deep inside.

"Math no! Come on, cut me down." ten called/ there's no way he knew what this was, ten was sure he could hardly see.

"Hey gray! Get in on this beast." math called out stabbing at it twice more before being thrown off.

"No way!" Grayson popped on his night vision goggles and looked at the beast in amusement before running to where matheus had elegantly landed.

"I thought I'd never get to do this again." Matheys smiled triumphantly.

"Magia! Benjamin! Come cut me down! Hurry, before these idiots get themselves killed." ten yelled as her friends emerged from the forest.

""Ten?" magia called drawing the beast's attention.

"I can hardly see." She heard benjamin. Ten struggled harder as she watched the beast moving toward the two.

"There's something there." Benjamin pulled out his sword and stared into the darkness.

"Ready?" ten heard grayson ask. Matheys nodded and the boys ran at the beast, leaping into the air. The beast shuddered as matheys ran up its back, grayson hopping down and taking out it's front legs enabling matheys to prowl forward and stab his sword through its neck. The boys leapt back as spiders flowed from the decapitated body, moving for the web ten was ensnared in.:

"Man. I forgot about this part." Grayson groaned.

"I didn't," Matheys smiled as he crunched spiders underfoot.

"Dude, you're killing babies."

"Baby spider beasts."

"I don't care what they are just kill them before they get closer/" ten squirmed with her eyes clenched shut.

"There's no way we can reach her. "Grayson observed, now stomping spiders along with matheus. Ten screeched as they inched closer, "I'm getting the vibe tens afraid of spiders?"

Oh, yeah. Tens afraid of spiders."

"Shut up and let me down!" tens yell was shrill and panicked.

"You may want to hush up." marigold lept from the trees and cut ten free. She landed perfectly on her feet moving quickly to avoid touching any of the small beats. She reached for her unscathed sword, but was interrupted by marigold's foot. She looked up at him, pulling her hood low over her face.

"We wouldn't want more to come." he picked up her sword. "Why are you here?"

"I always come here." ten stood as he returned her sword. She sheathed it without hesitation, so Gerbera's gonna have a real problem when these grow up in a few years."

"Have them take you back the way you came." marigold's face was stern, his voice laced with anger.

"No way! There's a ship back there, it shot benjamin!" magia objected.

" I know, I came here to clear it. Go, I'll fly ahead and call everyone off, get Benny to the house. With that marigold pulled out his own solar board and rode off.

"Ben, you're hurt?" ten ran toward him, already she could see blood dribbling from a gash stretching from his shoulder to his hip.

"We will get you to Sage." ten nodded, for now she used up some bandages and small Healing Orbs she had in her bag. Once finished the group started down the path leading out.

"My satchel and board." ten ran ahead, picking up the unharmed objects, "can we fly?"

"I lost mine." Benjamin sighed.

"You can ride with me." magia offered, "we should probably get out of here fast.

"So, math," ten started a little ways into the trip.

"Yeah?" math responded from where he rode beside her.

"That maneuver you and grayson used to take down the beast-"

" some rogue uncle picked it up awhile back."

"How could you see in the dark?"

"Night vision goggles." ten furrowed her brow, she had noticed only Grayson wearing goggles, "how could you see? And what are you wearing?"

" I obviously couldn't. I was caught in a spider web. Also, you just killed a long extinct beast and you are questioning my cloak?" Matheys stared at ten blankly before turning his attention back to his boarding.
