Chapter: Attack on the Academy
"WHat was that?" Misty asked shaking Iris awake.
"What? Misty stop, I'm awake." Iris groaned, confused as she was waking from her slumber. There was a loud noise from outside causing both girls to shoot to their feet and race to the window. Streaks of light filled the sky and people frantically ran on the ground.
"I think it's started." Misty trembled as the night air was filled with sirens and yelling.
"WHat's going on, Misty?" Iris asked.
"I thought we'd have more time." SHe looked at her roommate, but before any answer could be made there was a loud impatient knocking on their door. The girls jumped, Misty slowly approaching it. The door was opened to the freaked out expressions of Grayson and Sophia.
"We have to get out of here before we get killed!" Sophia exclaimed as sirens began to blare. She looked so scared and tears streaked her face.
"Give us a moment." Misty and Iris quickly grabbed their special suits and pulled on their boots.
"I can't go without my journals, Iris!" Misty shouted.
"Well do you have a bag of any sort?" Iris couldn't believe they were worrying about this now.
"The closet!" SHe pulled everything out from under her bed as Iris slammed the door open. Chucking the girl a drawstring bag to shove her books in before pulling it closed.
"Go!" Misty yelled. They joined the other two in the hall.
"Where's Yizeldan?" Iris yelled over the alarms as the group instinctively moved for the fire escape.
"I don't know! You three worry about getting to safety, I'll find her." Grayson yelled back. Sudden;y. A fireball ripped through the walls of the building and passed in front of the group. Misty screamed as she felt the heat and Grayson pulled Sophia out of the way. She gave a small yelp, the blood draining from her face.
"Come on!" Iris choked as she ran ahead of them through the thick smoke, Grayson, Misty, and Sophia followed closely. WIthout realizing it, she was pushing the flames aside as if they were curtains as they passed.
They reached the end of the hall and Iris pushed open the heavy door taking in the chaos outside. Students scrambled everywhere, screaming in fear and confusion.
"WHat now?" Sophia shouted over the noise, obviously frightened.
"The woods!" Grayson pointed to the high fence that surrounded us.
"How?" Iris groaned, "WHat are we going to do after? We still have to find Yiz."
"Look I have money, I'll take care of us after." Misty breathed.
"From where?" Iris asked.
"I stole it. Just, c'mon. We'll find Yizzy and hide in the woods for now." they nodded in agreement as another streak of fire whizzed passed them. Iris frantically looked for a way over the enchanted fence, relieved when they spotted an opening where a section was knocked down.
"Over there, an opening!" She pointed.
"On the count of three we run." Grayson instructed, "One, two-"
