When everyone had stepped through the portal, it felt like their bodies had gone weightless for a few seconds, their visions being blinded for a quick moment... Until they could feel their feet touching a layer of soft dirt underneath them. Immediately then everyone's visions had returned back, to see that they were now in a completely different world... The world of a video game. Everyone stared in awe at their new surroundings of the world, which completely differed from the town they were once in seconds ago. Behind everyone was a giant forest, with tall trees that completely concealed the inside of said forest. The rest of the area was a blank field, a soft breeze of wind blowing the grass gently. In front of them was a long dirt path, and in the distance the path led to a small village.
"Oh... My... God..." Allison stared in awe at the vibrant surroundings, a big smile appearing on her face as she squealed excitedly. "This is the coolest thing ever!! Me, inside of a video game for real... I've always dreamed of this ever since I was a kid!"
"I mean it is kind've cool, but..." Logan looked a bit nervous, looking around as well. "We still gotta find and defeat the darkness... How are we even gonna find it in here?"
"I know that this game has online connectivity... So you can play with other people." Allison states. "Maybe we can find it somewhere in there?"
"That's right... The online connectivity station is where every copy of this game is connected, so you should be able to find the darkness in there." Maildramon says. "The only thing is, you won't be able to find it until you reach the end of the game, so it might take a bit of time to get there. And uh, here. Show me your Digivices..."
Logan and Allison both held their Digivices out. Maildramon then stretched one of his paws forward, gently placing it on each of their Digivices for a few seconds.
"Here... Now you two can call me when you're done... And I'll take you both back to your world." Maildramon explains, the two nodding.
"Alright, then... Thanks for the help, Maildramon. We really appreciate it." Logan says, Maildramon nodding as he turned to face the portal, which was now getting smaller. "Of course... Good luck out there."
Maildramon quickly then stepped through the portal, right as it disappeared.
"Yes... I'm so excited for this!" Allison says, excitedly pumping her fists. "Let's do this!"
"Ok, but we gotta focus, and make sure we get to the end of the game in time..." Logan says, pulling out his phone as he looked at the time and date. "Let's see... We gotta get there before Friday. Right now it's Wednesday, 10:38 AM..."
"Don't worry Logan, we'll be able to get there in time!" Allison says confidently, pointing out to the village in the distance. "Alright, everyone... Onward, to our destination!"
Everyone then started walking their way down the dirt path, slowly getting closer to the village.
"So... What's this game about, anyways?" Logan asked.
"It's pretty much this fantasy RPG..." Allison answers.
"What's an RPG?" Veemon asks.
"It stands for role playing game..." Allison replies. "This game is set in a faraway time, and the world is filled with all different kinds of monsters, particularly dragons. And you basically have to find a ton of different monsters and such..."
The four had now arrived at the entrance of the village, where they could suddenly hear some screaming within it. They were about to run into the village, but we're suddenly stopped when these floating text bubbles popped up right in front of them, the bubbles reading: What difficulty mode would you like to choose?
The bubbles showed off multiple modes, including beginner mode, normal mode, and expert mode.
"Ooh... We should totally choose expert mode!" Allison says, her hands hovering over the buttons with an excited smirk.
"W-wait a second!" Logan nervously pushed Allison's hands away from the buttons. "Allison, what if this place is dangerous? What if we end up dying in real life if we die in this game? We should just choose beginner mode."
"Aw, come on! We should be living on the edge, Logan." Allison says. "I mean, that applies to real life too, right? And it's not like we fight dangerous monsters in... The..."
Allison's voice trailed off, thinking about what she was saying as she raised an eyebrow.
"...Crap you're right. Let's go beginner mode then." Allison says. She reached forward and pressed the beginner button, as a text box appeared, which read:
Beginner mode, huh...? You're a real pussy, ain't cha?
"Wow, rude..." Allison huffed. The text bubbles quickly then faded away, where everyone could now see what was going on in the village. The village had a couple of smaller dragons attacking the buildings, as people were screaming and running around. One of the people quickly ran up to the group, jumping up and down in a freaked out, scripted manner.
"Help us heroes!!" The NPC shouted. "The evil dragons are attacking the village! Use your weapons and help us!!"
"Weapons? Wh-"
Allison was quickly cut off when two giant swords suddenly appeared from thin air, into her and Logan's grasps.
"Arghh, what the...? This thing is so... Heavy...!" Allison groaned, the weight of the weapons weighing the two of them down. Logan immediately dropped his sword, and Allison tried to swing hers, but got knocked off balance from the sheer weight instead, falling backwards onto her back.
"Man... I'm too weak for this thing!" Logan whimpered.
"Geez... How the hell do the characters in the game carry these things?!" Allison grumbled.
The two we're struggling too much to use the weapons, not being able to attack the dragons at all as they continued attacking more parts of the village.
"Don't worry guys! We'll take care of this..." Veemon says, looking over at Tsukaimon, who also nodded in agreement...
"VEEMON DIGIVOLVE TO... VEEDRAMON!!"
