She felt a presense drop beside her, It was Gil, dipping his feet into the water, before he was evolped completly into it, hanging on the dock, smiling up at avi, "hey.""Hi gil." She gave him a warm smile, the water was up to his chest, as he used his arms to hold him up.
"You forget how to swim?" He teased, making Avi roll her eyes.
"Never, I could still beat your ass."
"I'd like to see you try." He sunk into the water, dissapearing under the depths, she could still faintly see his figure swimming away, and after a few feet he popped his head up, "I bet your scared, V."
"Im not." She called out towards him, as he dunked underneath again, it took only moment for him to pop up again, flinging the water in his hair back, it sprung off him, and he tipped his head back, bathing in the light.
"You are." He said, not meeting her gaze, water droplets dripped off his bare chest, the sun making him glow.
Avi reached her hand down, letting her fingertips touch the cold water, then looked back to Gil, who spared her a small glance with a smirk. "How so?"
Gil didnt answer, only laughing, as he dunked beneath again, and a voice behind Avi made her snap around.
"He teasing you?" Minso asked, droping a towel onto the wooden dock, before shedding his extra clothing, leaving him only in his bright blue shorts. Mizzen trailed behind him, like a shadow.
"He always is." Avi laughed, and Minso sent her a knowing look, before he splashed into the water, "whats that for?"
Minso shrugged, and swam after Gil, leaving the two siblings alone at the dock.
Mizzen sat beside her, frowning at the two boys deep in the water.
"Whats wrong?" She peered at him with concern, but Mizzen shook the thought off, turning to her.
"Nothing." He said, but something was weighing on him, it was on the tip of his tounge and Avi knew it, so she stayed silent, waiting for him to speak up, "Its just— why are you willing to sacrifice everything with Treech for us."
Avi sighed, she expected him to ask something like that, "Its for the best."
Mizzen shook his head, "but you wont be happy."
"Ill find someone else." She told him, staring off into the distance sadly, "I just need to get us away from here."
"I know you better than that." Mizzen spoke carefully, "Even when we get there, you'll still be thinking about him."
"Maybe." She inhaled a sharp breath, glancing towards Mizzen, "but thats something I can live with."
Mizzen sent her a pity look, "I dont want you to have to live with it."
"Mizzen." She began, "This is what I want, ok? When we get north we'll finnally be free, away from all of this, isnt that what you want?"
"Yeah, but—"
"Good." Avi didnt let him finish, "then I'll do anything possible to get us there, okay?" She shot him one final glance before she sunk into the water infront of him, the familair feeling, tingling her skin.
Mizzen let out a sigh, pulling his shirt over his head, before he hopped in after her.
Avi laughed as she dunked her head underneath letting the water take over her, she pushed her hair back, and swam out into the oceon, Mizzen following slowly behind her.
"You still got it." Gil called out to her, swimming towards her.
"I told you." She pushed him back softly, and he acted offended.
"Maybe you can still swim, but theres no promises your still a better diver."
"Want to bet on it?" She asked him, and Gil laughed.
"Everything I got." He told her, before he dissapeared into the water's depths.
"Cheater!" She shouted before she followed after him, she could see his figure drifting quickly, to the bottom of the seafloor, and she rushed right behind him.
Her feet hit the bottom in the matter of seconds, and he shot her a quick smile, before he motioned to something. He pointed to the surface then back to the dock, pillars, that were dim from the distance.
Avi frowned at him, and he rolled his eyes, repeating the motion. The second time, Avi undertsood what he was saying, and she nodded, swimming to the direction of the dock, and going underneath it, her hands touching the wood above her. Gil looked up, searching for something, after a few moment he found it, and pointed it out to Avi.
It was her name, carved out into the old wood, probally from years ago, right above it was Anuket Gilova, her old diving partner, before he had drowned, when they were twelve. She remembered having the biggest crush on him, and she smiled at the rememberance. Anuket was always one of the most positive kids in four, he was smart, way to smart for his age. He and Avi fueld eachother when they were together, and it was like they were unstoppable. After his death, something had shifted in Avi, but nobody could quite put a finger on it.
Avi let her fingertips trace over the carved lettering, Her was messier than Anuket's, since she had rushed hers.
Gil sent her a look, nodding to the surface, and he pulled her to the top. He shook the water out of his hair, though it did no use since they were still in the water.
