We waited until Joyce came to bail Jonathan out. And she was with Chief Hopper.
"Jonathan? Jesus, what...what happened?" Joyce asked.
"Ma'am." Callahan stood.
"I'm fine." Jonathan muttered.
"Why is he wearing handcuffs?" Joyce questioned.
"Well, your boy assaulted a police officer. That's why." Callahan told her.
"Take them off." Joyce pointed.
"I am afraid I cannot do that." Callahan shook his head.
"Take them off!" Joyce shouted.
"You heard her. Take 'em off." Hopper backed Joyce up.
"Chief, I get everyone's emotional here, but there's something you need to see." Powell stood and joined us.
They left the station and came back with the supplies we bought at the store.
"What is this?" Joyce dug through the box.
"Why don't you ask your son? We found it in his car." Hopper said.
"What?" Joyce gasped.
"Why are you going through my car?" Jonathan asked Hopper.
"Yeah, isn't that illegal?" I spoke up.
"Miss. Henderson, should I call your mother here, too?" Hopper narrowed his eyes at me. I raised my hands in surrender. He looked back at Jonathan. "Is that really the question you should be asking right now? I wanna see you in my office."
"You won't believe me." Jonathan countered.
Hopper's jaw was dropped and walked closer to us again. "Why don't you give me a try?"
So we moved into Hopper's office and showed him and Joyce the pictures we had of the...creature. We explained everything we knew.
"You say blood draws this thing?" Hopper asked.
"A theory." I shrugged.
We went to drop Nancy off at home and saw tons of people going in and out of her house.
"What the hell?" I muttered.
"I have to go home." Nancy told us.
"No, you can't." Hopper denied.
"My mom...my dad are there." Nancy argued.
"They're gonna be okay." Hopper continued to watch the scene in front of us.
Nancy pushed off the car and walked around him, trying to get home.
"Hey, hey, hey." Hopper grabbed her arm.
"Let go." Nancy warned. "Let go!"
"Hey! Listen to me. Listen to me. The last thing in the world we need is them knowing you're mixed up in all this." Hopper said.
"He's right, Nance. We can't help them if we're being smothered by...whoever those people are." I pointed at her house.
"Mike is over there-" Nancy began.
"They haven't found him." Hopper shook his head.
My thoughts went to Dustin. Where is he? Was he okay with Mike?
"Not yet, at least." Hopper pointed at the helicopter.
"For Mike!?" Nancy gasped.
"In the car. Both of you." Hopper pushed us towards the car. "Look, we need to find them before they do. Do you have any idea where your brothers might have gone?"
