The others began searching for music as I continued to shake Nancy. I stared at her, holding her shoulders down in case she began to float.
Suddenly, Nancy gasped and her eyes flew open. She fell backwards, I caught her, laying both of us on the ground.
"Nancy." I said, shocked. "It's okay. It's okay. I'm here, Nance. I'm right here." She stared up at me with tearful eyes.
I helped her climb up the rope as she landed on the mattress on the other side. I quickly followed and we both walked towards the noise.
"I mean, what are you even looking for!?" Eddie asked.
"Madonna, Blondie, Bowie, Beatles? Music! We need music!" Robin told him.
"This is music!" Eddie yelled, holding a tape.
I cleared my throat. "Guys."
Everyone's head snapped over to us and they looked very confused.
"How-How is-" Dustin pointed at Nancy. I shook my head, since Nancy was still shaken up.
By morning, we all moved to Max's trailer as Nancy sat down. She was explaining what she saw.
"He showed me things that haven't happened yet. The most awful things. I saw a dark cloud speaking over Hawkins. Downtown on fire. Dead soldiers. And this...this giant creature with...a gaping mouth. And this creature wasn't alone. There were so many monsters. An army. And they were coming into Hawkins into our neighborhoods. Our homes. And then...he showed me my mom and Holly. Mike. And they...they were all..." Nancy cried.
"Okay, but....he's just trying to scare you, Nance." Steve spoke up. "Right? I mean...it's not real."
"Not yet." Nancy whispered. "But there...there was something else. He showed me gates. Four gates. Spreading across Hawkins. And these gates, they looked like the one outside of Eddie's trailer, but...they didn't stop growing. And this wasn't the Upside Down Hawkins. This was our Hawkins. Our home."
"Four chimes." Max spoke up, causing all of us to look at her. "Vecna's clock. It always chimes four times. Four exactly."
"I heard them, too." Nancy agreed.
"He's been telling us his plan this whole time." Max realized.
"Four kills. Four gates." Lucas looked over at Max. "End of the world."
"If that's true...he's only one kill away." Dustin said.
"Oh, Jeez." Eddie muttered.
"Call them again, M." I looked over at Max. We've been trying to get in contact with Will, El, Mike, Joyce and Jonathan. But nothing.
"Anything?" Dustin asked.
"No. Rang a few times, then went to a busy signal." Max walked back over to us.
"Maybe you punched it in wrong. Try again." Steve said.
"She didn't punch it in wrong." I told Steve.
"Well, I don't know." Steve shrugged.
"Dude, I think she knows how to use a phone." Dustin said.
"I'm just saying, she could've typed it in wrong." Steve defended.
Max tried again. "Same shit."
"How is that possible?" Lucas asked.
"I told you. Joyce has this telemarketer job. She's always on the phone. Mike won't stop whining about it." Dustin rolled his eyes.
"Okay, yeah, but this phone's been busy for, what, three days now?" Max raised her eyebrows. "That's not Joyce."
"You don't think...something's happening over there?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
