Barb, Nancy and I walked the hallways as I told them about kissing Steve last night.
"So are you guys dating?" Nancy asked.
"I don't know, it's not like he asked me to." I shrugged.
"Just the ladies I wanted to see." Steve's voice echoed the hallway and we glanced to the side to see him, Tommy H. and Carol. "Important matter...my Dad has left town on a conference and my Mom's gone with him, 'cause, you know, she doesn't trust him."
"Good call." Tommy smirked.
"So are you in?" Steve asked us, but only looked at me.
"In for what?" Nancy asked, realizing I wasn't gonna speak up.
"No parents? Big house?" Carol raised her eyebrows, waiting for us to catch on.
"A party?" Nancy questioned.
"Ding, ding, ding!" Carol smiled as Tommy laughed.
"It's Tuesday." Nancy whispered to me.
"'It's Tuesday'." Tommy mocked her.
"Come on. It'll be lowkey. It'll just be us. What do you say? Are you in or are you out?" Steve stared at me.
"Uh..." I stuttered for a moment.
"Oh, my God. Look." Carol spoke up and we followed her eyesight to see Jonathan hanging up posters.
"Oh, God, that's depressing." Steve muttered with a smirk.
"Should we say something?" Nancy wondered.
"I don't think he speaks." Carol teased.
"How much you want to bet he killed him?" Tommy whispered.
"Shut up." Steve shoved Tommy's chest.
I shook my head and walked over to Jonathan. If I have to be the first to make a change, I will.
"Hey." I said, causing Jonathan to look up.
"Athena, hey." Jonathan replied.
"I'm sorry about..." I motioned to the poster of Will before glancing back at the group. "We all are. We're thinking about you." Nancy was the only one to give a pity smile while the others looked away awkwardly.
Nancy joined my side. "Yeah, I'm sure he's fine. He's a smart kid."
I sensed the two wanted to continue talking, so I cued my exit. "Bye, Jonathan."
An announcement was heard that there was an assembly tonight at the football field in honor of Will. I would go, but Will was fine so it wasn't necessary.
...right?

I got ready for Steve's party when I got home while Dustin went to Mike's house. I stared at myself in the mirror. Nancy called and said Barb was at her house and they would be at mine in five minutes.
I left my room and saw Mom sitting in her recliner with Mews on her lap.
"Oh, Athy, where are you going?" Mom asked.
"There's an assembly for Will tonight. Nancy, Barb and I are going." I lied.
I almost felt bad about lying, but I don't think she would take the 'going to a party in the middle of the week especially after my little brother's friend went missing' that well.
"Oh, okay, don't stay out too late and stay together." She pointed her finger at me.
"Okay, love you." I kissed her head.
