Everyone held onto me as we continued to drop down who knows how many floors.
"We're going down! We're going down!" Steve yelled.
"Yeah, no shit, Harrington!" Robin shouted back.
"Why don't these buttons work!?" Dustin reached around me and smashed the buttons.
Erica reached around me, too. "Push the button!"
"What do you think I'm doing!?" Dustin yelled back.
"Everyone, shut up!" I screamed, closing my eyes.
As the room stopped falling, we all fell onto the floor and laid in silence for a moment.
One of the boxes fell off the table and landed on Steve's crotch.
"My groin." Steve winced. "It fell on my groin. Thena, get this off of me!"
I looked over and noticed the box was literally on top of Steve. Dustin and I moved the box before helping Steve up.
"Just lost feeling in my-" Steve groaned again, holding the area between his legs.
"Are you two okay?" I looked at Erica and Dustin, they were panting, but nodded. "Are you?" I looked over at Robin, who was just standing up.
"Yeah." She held a hand over her chest.
"Are you?" I looked over at Steve.
He shoved the wall. "Yeah, I'm great, now that I know that Russians can't design elevators!"
Steve shoved Dustin into me before pressing all the buttons on the wall.
"Steve, we've established the buttons don't do shit." I spoke up.
"They're buttons. They have to do something." Steve argued.
"Yeah, if we had a keycard." Robin pointed out.
"A what?" Steve questioned.
"It's an electronic lock." I added.
"The same as the loading dock door. If we don't have a keycard, it won't operate, meaning-" Robin explained.
"We're stuck in here." Dustin sighed.
"Yeah." Robin nodded.
"Just so you nerds are aware, I'm supposed to be spending the night at Tina's and Tina always covers for me. But if I'm not home for Uncle Jack's party tomorrow and my Mom finds out you four are responsible, she's gonna hunt you down, one by one, and slit your throats." Erica threatened.
"I don't care about Tina or Uncle Jack's party! Your Mom's not gonna be able to find us if we're dead in a Russian elevator!" Steve screamed.
I placed my hand on Steve's arm to calm him down. "Yelling isn't going to solve anything. Deep breaths."
Steve stared at me before lowering his voice. "How are you not freaking out right now?"
"Oh, I am." I nodded. "I'm gonna kill my little brother for getting us involved with the Russians." I turned around and glared at Dustin.
"Hey, Athy." Dustin raised his hands up in surrender before pointing at the hatch in the ceiling. "Look! What if we climbed out?"
Dustin and Steve climbed up as Erica, Robin and I waited inside the room.
-
There is no way out.
No ladder, no rope...nothing.
Dustin pulled out his radio to try and contact his friends.
"Code Red, I repeat, Code Red. Does anyone copy?" Dustin repeated over and over. "We are innocent children and we are trapped under Starcourt Mall. The Red Army had infiltrated Hawkins and if we are found, they will torture and kill us."
