"Not to be a wimp, but can I maybe sit in the car for this visit? 'Cause this is gonna totally and royally suck." Robin asked, we were going to see Eddie, we brought him beer and snacks. Like he asked yesterday.
"It'll be fine." Nancy dismissed.
"I just can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again. I really, really can't." Robin whined.
"At least he can drink himself into feeling better." Steve held up the beer. He and Dustin were eating the chips we were bringing Eddie.
"That's what my mom does." Max muttered.
"Why don't we just give it a trial run? 'Hey, Eddie. Uh, good news first this time. We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested. Oh yeah, and we found Vecna. Only the bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier, dimension, that we told you about and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him. Like he's entirely shut off to us, so basically you're screwed. And, no, I know you were already screwed, but now you're doubly, triply screwed'." Robin ranted.
"Wait, wait. Maybe we don't put it like that." Lucas calmed her.
"'We're one step closer to finding Vecna.' That's what we say. That's what's important." Nancy said.
"See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference." Steve ate another chip.
"Uh-huh." Robin nodded.
"Oh, shit." I looked out the window, seeing the cops surrounding the place Eddie was staying.
We all got out.
"Come on, this way." Nancy motioned for us to follow her.
"...reporting a homicide out here on the lake. Officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene. Uh, we made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from that house you see behind me. It was there that we found the victim, an eighteen year old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney." Sheriff Powell shared. "His limbs...and body, it was disfigured...there was an eyewitness on the scene...we have also identified a person of interest. Eddie Munson. We encourage anyone with information to please come forward."
"Oh man." Steve muttered. "This is not good, really not good."
Powell said there was a town meeting at town hall.
"Dustin, can you hear me? Wisdom?" Eddie's voice came over Dustin's walkie.
"Eddie. Holy shit. Are you okay?" Dustin asked.
"Nah, man. Pretty...pretty Goddamn far from okay." Eddie responded.
"Where is he?" Robin asked Dustin.
"Where are you?" Dustin then asked Eddie.
"Skull Rock. Do you know it?" Eddie asked.
"Uh, yeah. That's near, uh, Cornwallis and-" Dustin began.
"Garrett, yeah. We know where that is." Steve nodded at me, grabbing my hand and running to Nancy's car. The others followed.
Maybe we won't talk about Steve and I hiding out at Skull Rock to make out.
We got to the woods and had to go on foot. Dustin was using his compass, but Steve is arguing that Dustin is wrong. I knew we were going the right way.
"Dude, I'm telling you, you're taking us the wrong way." Steve shook his head.
"It's North. I'm positive. I checked the map." Dustin looked between the map and his compass.
"Dustin, I'm with Steve on this one. You're going the wrong way." I sighed.
