Summer arrived quickly. Steve graduated and got a job at the mall. Specifically...the ice cream shop. We made a friend there, Robin. I spent most of my days at Scoops Ahoy since I had nothing else to do.

Dustin went off to a summer camp at the beginning of the month and would be returning soon.

Nancy and Jonathan worked at the newspaper shop and I saw them as much as I could.

I currently ate a free spoonful of ice cream because I get perks for being the girlfriend and friend of the employees. I sat on the back counter as I watched Mike, Max, Will and Lucas prance in.

They wanted to slip through the back to get in the movie theatre for free.

Robin straightened up as they arrived. "Your kids are here."

"I see them." I sighed.

I didn't get a job at Scoops because I didn't want to be caught wearing that ridiculous sailor's uniform. Robin and Steve told me that was stupid, but didn't argue much.

Mike rang the bell over and over as they walked up to the counter.

"Hey, dingus, your children are here." Robin called.

Steve opened the window that leads to the back room. "Again? Seriously?"

We ushered them into the back and Max moved to my side.

"What flavor?" Max peeked into my cup.

"Mint." I lifted my spoon with the ice cream on it and Max ate it.

"Thanks, A." She smiled.

"You're welcome, M." I nudged her and watched the kids walk down the hallway.

"I swear, if anybody hears about this-" Steve began, telling him the same thing he does every time.

"We're dead!" They finished, already knowing the rest.

"If I get fired because of them..." Steve trailed off.

"If you get fired...I don't get any free ice cream." I realized before pointing my finger at him. "Steve, you better not get fired."

"Why are you yelling at me!? They're your kids, too!" Steve defended.

He and Robin continued working as I sat on the counter. Steve was on scooping duty while Robin was on register duty.

Suddenly, the lights went out.

"That's weird." Steve looked around before walking over to the light switch and flipping it up and down.

"That isn't gonna work, dingus." Robin said.

"Oh, really?" Steve raised his eyebrows before flipping the switch even faster.

"Steve, you look ridiculous...aside from wearing that uniform. It isn't gonna-" I began.

All the lights in the mall flipped back on.

"Well, I'll be damned." I muttered.

"Let there be light." Steve smirked at me.

I rolled my eyes and looked at Robin. "He is such a dingus."

"I can hear you!" Steve looked over at us.

"We know." Robin and I replied.

-

When their shift was over, Steve drove me home and waved to my Mom as she opened the door for me. I spoke to Mom for a moment before slipping off into my room.

I quietly opened my window as a familiar face popped up with a sailor hat on his head.

"That uniform is so stupid." I laughed as he climbed in.

"I'm Sailor Steve, you don't dig it?" Steve questioned, stepping closer to me.

"I never said I didn't, just that it was stupid." I smiled as we kissed.

I made sure the door was locked before continuing any further.

Once the morning rolled around, Mom knocked on the door.

"Athy?" Mom's voice woke me up.

I rolled off of Steve's chest and stumbled off the bed. "Yeah!?"

"Why's the door locked?" She rattled the doorknob and I shoved Steve until he hit the floor. He was about to shout, but I covered his mouth.

"I was getting dressed and I dropped my radio!" I lied, running over to unlock my door.

"Oh, I'm about to pick up Dusty. Are you coming with?" She asked as her eyes traveled to my outfit...which was literally only a shirt because I haven't put on pants. "Don't tell me you're wearing that..."

"No, I'm about to get dressed now. Uh, I promised Steve I'd go with him to work." I told her. "But tell Dusty I said hi and to stop by later to see me."

"I will, love you." Mom kissed my cheek.

"Love you, too." I smiled, shutting the door after she walked away.

"Why are you always shoving me to the ground!?" Steve sat up and rubbed his back.

"Reflexes." I shrugged. "Now, I actually gotta get dressed and so do you."

Steve got back into his sailor's uniform and I got changed before we left the house and walked down to his car, which he parked down the street.
