"Nancy!" Jonathan screamed.
"Nancy!" I can't lose another friend. How could she just disappear?
"Where are you!?" Jonathan shouted.
"Jonathan!" I heard Nancy's voice. "Athena!"
We could hear her, but couldn't see her.
"We're right here! I'm right here!" Jonathan shouted back.
"Nancy! Where are you!?" I yelled.
"Follow my voice!" He yelled.
"Jonathan! Athena!" She yelled again.
"Follow our voice! We're right here!" I kept spinning in circles, waiting to see Nancy running towards us.
But she never was.
We heard another scream.
"Athena! Look!" Jonathan yelled.
I turned and saw what he was looking at. A giant hole in the bottom of the tree. It was glowing.
"What the f-" I began.
"I think she's in there." Jonathan crouched down.
"In the tree?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
We got closer. It looked slimy.
"Nancy! Follow my voice!" Jonathan yelled into the hole.
"Nancy?" I questioned.
A hand reached out of the hole at the bottom, scaring the absolute shit out of me.
Jonathan and I flew backwards.
"Jonathan! Athena!" It was Nancy. Holy shit, it was Nancy.
"Nancy!" Jonathan moved first, grabbing her hand to pull her out. It looked like he couldn't, so I grabbed her arm and pulled, too. Nancy slowly got out of the hole and was laying on top of us. She was scared and crying and Jonathan held her tight.
My eyes were on the hole in the tree that magically turned back into the trunk.
Jonathan carried our bags again as Nancy held onto my side for dear life. We left the woods and went back to Nancy's house.
Over at the Henderson household, Steve Harrington stepped up to the house and knocked at the door. Claudia Henderson opened the door and smiled as she saw Steve.
"Oh, Steve! How wonderful to see you." Claudia smiled.
"Hey, Miss. Henderson. Is Athena here?" Steve asked.
"No. She went to Nancy's house a couple hours ago." Claudia shook her head.
Steve stared at her for a long moment before nodding. "Okay, uh, thank you."
"Of course. I'll see you around, sweetheart." Claudia waved before going back inside.
Steve walked back to his car and got in. Carol, who sat in the back, spoke up.
"Not home?" Carol asked.
"No, she's at Nancy's house." Steve started the car.
"Let me guess, we're going there." Tommy said sarcastically.
"Maybe she's getting tired of 'King Steve'." Carol mocked.
"No, she's just been acting weird. Something was wrong." Steve told her.
"Athena can handle her own shit, Steve. I doubt she needs you to fight her battles." Carol leaned forward. "Is that...do I see love?"
"What?" Steve asked.
