The Steward agreed to Anakin and Cassandra altering the plans for a tour to take a landspeeder outside the city. Once Cassandra learned an archaeological team was excavating ruins nearby, there was no stopping her.
The speeder crawled at a glacial pace over the sands. An arachnid skittered past them and climbed a cactus. Anakin tamped down his mounting frustration, reminding himself Cassandra was a beginner. "Cass, you can go a little faster."
"Okay."
A bead of sweat rolled down her exposed neck as Cassandra squeezed the accelerator. They rocketed forward, Anakin slamming into her back. The sands turned into a blur around them. The landspeeder careened dangerously fast to an outcropping of rocks ahead. "Hey! Slow down!" He shouted in her ear.

Reaching around her, Anakin took the controls and swerved the vehicle, avoiding a deadly collision with a wall of stone.
The speeder idled beneath them in the sudden silence. Cassandra twisted around, her goggles crooked. Her eyes were wide. "Sorry. They should label the gears on this thing."
"Look, it's not complicated." Anakin positioned her hands on the handlebars, pointing to the small switch underneath the left one. "This is accelerate." He guided her other hand to the other switch on the opposite side. "This controls the breaks."
"Yeah, but how do you adjust the speed?"
"By lightly pressing the accelerator." Anakin demonstrated by pressing her thumb gently against the switch.
The speeder zoomed forward at a less dangerous speed. Cassandra squealed in delight, her braid whipping around her head. "This is awesome!"

Her natural zest for life buoyed Anakin's spirits. Cassandra's enthusiasm was infectious. She was so adorable when she got excited. An indulgent smile curved his lips. "Now, keep it steady. The archaeological dig is close."
