A/N: Wanted to let y'all know I'm working on a second book that is just gonna be this whole story from Doms POV. I've already written the majority of this one tho and it's at 96,416 words right now. In this chapter Adam mentions a confrontation he had with Dom and you may be disappointed you didn't get to see it. But it will show that scene in Dom's POV when I eventually post his side of the story. Anyway~ Enjoy!
I had come to the conclusion that Dominic was finished with me. After that shower incident a couple weeks ago, I had blown up on him. Lily was out of the house when I did, so thankfully she didn't hear my outburst. I felt humiliated when I remembered how indifferent Dominic seemed, as if what we did in the shower that day meant nothing to him. If anything, he seemed to find it strange I was even upset, like he thought he was just doing me a favor by nearly getting me off. It was maddening beyond belief.
Even though Dominic didn't seem to be actively pursuing me anymore, I still avoided him at all costs. The tension of our actions still hung heavy in the air, making it difficult for me to pretend nothing had happened. Dominic went on as usual, of course, easily being the charming husband Lily knew him as. But I could see the truth; Dominic was the devil. And he was trying to tempt me into betraying the one person I really loved. I had told him as much during our confrontation but he just laughed it off, much to my embarrassment.
Lily had tried a few times to lure me out of my self-imposed exile, but I only came out of my room for work and food. I even avoided swimming, something that once calmed my nerves, now tainted with the memory of Dominics hands on me. I knew now that Dom had no issue touching me when Lily was nearby. I cringed, wondering how I let him do all that to me. I just needed to avoid him entirely.
Aside from Dominics knowing smirks, he hadn't attempted anything with me for over a week. He had managed to sneak in a few kisses on the 4th of July but thankfully nothing more. After so many successful dodges, he likely lost interest in his pursuit of me and I was all for it. I was starting to feel like myself again.
Dominic was mostly silent now anytime he had to drive me to work but it was likely because I had learned to put in AirPods to drown out his bizarre conversations. Even if Dominic wasn't flirting with me, he always had erratic things to say. Today, he begrudgingly chauffeured me to my freshman orientation. Despite it being weeks before classes started, the school decided to gather us bright and early at 7am to talk about our majors and expectations. Dominic seemed pretty inconvenienced by the whole thing, which only confirmed his lack of interest in me.
Finally, Dominic pulled up to the curb of California State University. I spotted Ryan chilling on a boulder under a palm tree in front of the main building. Since we were both majoring in Sports Medicine, we were in for a day of hanging out together. I thanked Dominic for the ride and hopped out of the car, making my way towards Ryan. He greeted me, but his eyes were fixed on Dominic who was still parked and watching from a distance. Ryans eyebrow raised in suspicion as he watched Dominic finally pull away.
"What was that about?" He asked.
"What?" I glanced back to see Dominic driving away.
"I think he was glaring at me." Ryan said, laughing with disbelief.
"Really?" I shrugged, trying to play it off. Maybe Dominic still had some lingering possessive feelings.
Ryan looked suspicious but decided to drop it. "I'm starving. Have you eaten?" He asked as we began walking. I nodded. "Well, I haven't. Let's go to the student store and find something to eat."
"Okay," I agreed, since we still had half an hour before the orientation started.
He led me to the student store and as we stepped in, I could feel myself shrink with apprehension. The room was packed full with young students, all here for the orientation. The air was filled with chatter, creating a low hum of conversation. Almost everyone was wearing black and gold, the school colors.
